What kinda stuff would chad do to Elliot when they were a kid? Like, beat them up or just tower over them kinda stuff? How would virgil react to knowing the specifics? Also—did Roman/Logan/Patton ever know of Elliot or were they just some kid in school who was much younger than them? (Not a prompt, just a question! Unless you wanna make it a prompt lol)

*wince* yeah when they were younger chad was definitely physically beating up Elliot. I’d say he probably stopp when  he was in early high school and Elliot was in middle school

And their parents are very much “boys will be boys” kind of folks and Elliot’s “hey parental unit do you think maybe you could keep my brother from, you know, assaulting me” was usually met with some variation of “he’s just roughhousing” and the assumption that Chad was just playing with Elliot and Elliot was “being overly sensitive about it [eye roll]”

Hence the reason it stopped when it did - it was getting harder for chad to pass it off as overexuberant “fun”

(this also relates to the Pennybacker parent’s reaction to Patton and frosty relationship with Patton’s parents. They complained near-constantly about the compulsion on Chad, mostly because Patton frequently would just... put himself between Chad and other people he was bothering and do nothing else, and Chad fucking hated that.

So he’d come back to his parents with a sob story about how Patton was “keeping him away from the other kids” and they’d call the Wallers or corner them at the farmer’s market in a huff. The number of times Matt was *this close* to punching Herbert in the teeth is almost uncountable

i kind of constantly exist in a state of wanting to punch Herbert and Susan Pennybacker in the teeth, tbh)

Roman Patton and Logan definitely knew Elliot, but only in the way everybody in a very very small school knows each other - they definitely werent friends in any meaningful way. though Roman, at least, probably suspected that Chad wasn’t any nicer to his sibling than he was to everyone else, and i cant imagine Roman didn’t see Elliot with a black eye a couple times and react accordingly by goading Chad into a fight
