Kaydel came in and sat down, crossing her legs and looking to Laozen with a small grin, but it was a polite gesture, nothing more. 

Being ‘assessed’ for active duty felt entirely beneath her. She understood it was procedure and yes, she was coming in specially to teach a team of Soldiers that were not under her jurisdiction, but it was a favour and having to go through this felt as though that favour was not quite appreciated as it should be. 

“Shall we make this as quick and painless as possible?”

"What are you doing in my office?" Laozen asks flatly as he enters the room, pausing at the door to watch the interloper. It wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to him, and he doubted it would be the last.

“Admiral Laozen?  My name is Cairis.  I work with The Voice of The Empire.  I’m the puff piece slash Galra Interest reporter,” said Cairis, “and I’ve come to ask if you’d consent to being interviewed?”

Laozen presses a courteous kiss to the others knuckles, before releasing her hand. "It's a pleasure to see you again." He muses, standing back and looking about the party. "I wasn't sure if I'd see any familiar faces at this particular event." He mused.

She grinned and gave a small bow of her head to him in greeting. “Yes well, I don’t expect that I was… expected.” Her eyes moved out to look at the socialites and military mingling away. “I am in the area on diplomatic affairs and thought a night for this was appropriate.” 

Her eyes traced back over to him and she kept a subtle but pleasant curve to her lips. “Do you attend these sorts of affairs often? Or is it more business than pleasure that brings you into attendance?”
