Lapis redesign! I tried to include more gold but also keep it subtle? I think I managed to get a good balance

This itself is kinda meant to be a one off thing. I did redesign garnet but I wasn’t too proud of how it came out (mainly the colors)

Maybe I’ll do gems like spinel or pearl in the future if I feel like it. But anyways onto the design explanation

Lapis- top is inspired by stevens shirt, the gloves and stockings are inspired by garnet, and the bow is inspired by pearl

Peridot- the shorts are a reference to the alien shorts she wore. The suspenders are inspired by her work on the farm. And finally the hair is star shaped

I havent cared about stephens universe in 10000 years BUT i couldnt and still cant stop drawing my lapis redesign since i made her like....2 years ago?? She looks much better now! So i thought i would post some of her new-new look

aaaaaaaanyway, i decided to go back and redesign lapis bc my previous one was. hm. ugly

i started out by drawing my own body for her since editing her already existing refs would suuuuuck lol heres her homeworld outfit. cracked version, and healed. i left the mirror effect on her eyes bc it looks cool. that, and she was in the mirror, cracked for so long i imagine it’d have caused some sort of permanent damage, regardless of how gems work.

under the cut is her earth outfits, gems, and some more ramblings, lol

heres her earth outfits! she went to live in empire city, instead of the barn, and got into human fashion. and idk if the second one is a crystal gem outfit or not, but shes got a lil starfish on her halter top.

i did a lapis redesign for funsies, the main idea is trying to make her look alien but also simple enough so its possible for her to be animated

i was orignally gonna lean more into the ‘terraformer’ angle but it didnt feel very... lapis. so i went back to concept sketching and decided to make her look almost like a doll. also when shes cracked i decided to make her control over water less, controlled - since her looking normal (besides her mirror eyes) and having complete control over her powers was kinda boring. i really like her design - esp her eyes n her cute lil freckles.

her colours were a nightmare - i kept going back and forth and while i rlly like them im not sure they,, suit? blend well together? idk ive never been good at picking pallettes
