(This was written before the previous post guys <3) I FINALLY FINALLY NAMED THAT HORROR MYSTERY DETECTIVE STORY IDEA I BRIEFLY MENTIONED

ITS CALLED VAEH’S DETECTIVE

and to explain WHAT that first word means,,

i have to explain the lore :)

so lets do this in a timeline format, HHEHEHEHEHE pkay but first, little note:

VAEH’S DETECTIVE is a horror/mystery story-world that explores darker themes than what I usually work with (Obssession, Cults, the Mentality behind Murder). It is mostly experimental and NONE of the characters are meant to be good people, they are not meant to be examples of good people, and their actions probably shouldn’t be treated as such. (This is a world where the idea of “good” has corroded)

Initially tending just to be a slasher, it has grown into much more.

also my timeline skills suck. and this is not accurate to the real world.

1824 May 12th : Vaeh’or, a Volcano in the sidelands once previously thought to be inactive erupts. It is a catastrophic event that leaves the surrounding communities in shambles, and causes an emergency evacuation of the recent mine. The ash and smoke spread throughout the surrounding area.

June : Despite multiple rainfalls, the ash does not disipate, the skies in the area remain clouded and dark.

July : The sky is still dark, efforts to rebuild are being made.

August :

September :

October :

November : The moral of the affected area decreases, as the skies are still dark.

December :

1825 January : Animals in the affected area grow noticeably more stressed.

1830 : The sky begins to ‘leak’ into surrounding areas, the clouds and darkness growing steadily.

1840 : The darkness of the sky has encompassed many surrounding settlements. The people of affected area say it is a message from the god of the volcano, the god named Vaeh’orjvus.

1850 : Rates of animal attacks increase

1860 : Surrounding states are now clouded in the darkness from the volcano.

1865 : Christianity believes it to be the end of the world, that they have sinned and that it is the devil punishing them.

1870 : The elk begin to change.

1880 : Surrounding continents are now clouded in the darkness from the volcano

1885 : News of a death in the group surrounding the volcano spreads rapidly, the mans body had grown masses of flowers after his passing.

1890 : People find that injuries sustained begin changing their bodies.

1900 : Clear skies are gone, rates of animal injuries and deaths caused by animals drastically increase.

1905 : Researchers are trying to find the reason of mutation after injury and death.

1910 : People grow angrier, Trying to find a cure

1915 : Vaehism, a religion based around the god of the Volcano grows in popularity. They believe the changes to their bodies are a gift designed to help them grow stronger after injury. Trying to find a cure

1920 : Trying to find a cure

1925 : Many churches are now dedicated to Vaehism, Hunting season is feared as the deer are now hunting the hunters. The nights grow foggy. Trying to find a cure.

1930 : A test created by a man named Arnold Haxsane is being implemented globally to determine the severity of mutations caused by what’s now known as Vaeh’s Affect. (Mutations occuring after injury.) Trying to find a cure.

March : Trying to find a cure.

April : Vaehism is now the primary religion. Trying to find a cure.

May : Trying to find a cure.

June : Trying to find a cure.

July : Trying to find a cure.

August : Trying to find a cure.

1932 September 31st : A plant has been found to be able to produce a reversal for the mutations.

1935 : Attempts to mass grow the plant are struggling, The Reversal is in affect in hospitals but in low quanitity

1936 : A steady production of the reversal is being maintained, Hospitals are instructed to only use it on severe cases.

1938 : Production has reached the limit, Enough to supply hospitals but resources need to be managed well.

1939 : It is now mandatory to take the Haxsane test, copies of it are to be held by the government only, if a copy of the Haxsane test is found outside government hands the holder will be arrested.

1940 : Severe cases of Vaeh’s mutations have been made illegal to maintain due to practice of criminals purposely using it to mutate their bodies.

Cough okay anyways so, everything you just read is from the POV of the people.

What actually happened?:

The Volcano (Vaeh’or) erupted, its vibrations causing crystals found inside the nearby mine to shatter and break. These crystals of which were hollow and actually carrying an ancient symbiotic disease of sorts. One that alters the hosts body to prevent it from injury/keep it alive.

The symbiotic disease thing whatever it may be alters the body of animals and humans based off instinct, however due to humans’ needs and wants being hard to differentiate its grown confused.

People(criminals) have found that they can essentially condition their minds to form different mutations on injury.

The symbiote has caused major changes in many species of animals, significantly Elk.

Vaeh’or - The volcano

Vaeh’orjvus - The god assosciated (their image has changed drastically as they’re assumed to be the cause of the mutations.)

Vaeh’s Affect - The altercations caused by the symbiotic species

Vaehian - The religion of the volcano god (Vaeh’orjvus)

Haxsane (Test) - The test to determine mental state and vulnerability to Vaeh’s affect.

Haxsane Number - Your rating on the test, this will identify you and follow for the rest of your life.

Rough explanations to explain my ideas for her a bit moree...need to get this OUT before i start seeing her in my dreams

!! Mentions of child abuse, violence, ableism and misogyny !!

My main issue starting off was that i didn't want to veer off Franco's concept, design, and theming too hard. His heavy mommy issues paired with his daddy issues, as WELL as the humiliation kink and age regression issues he has (if i can call it that idrk) felt like it could still be pretty interesting with Francesca. Plus exploring a lesbian concept for her would be in my own comfort zone and expertise.

Design wise I went for more of a butch route for her, after all franco despite all the baby dialogue holds DEEPLY onto masculinity and its aesthetics, so only slightly altering his outfit for her seemed appropriate (plus I get to look at handsome women for inspiration big win!!!!! 🤑🤑🤑🤑) I can't imagine her being too feminine not only due to Salvatore and his rampant misogyny, but because it would grant her more comfort. She's a "ugly" woman with a mob boss for a father, its the closest way she can relate to him. (speaking slightly from experience oops)

From some of the references i used below you can see the approach i went w her, a purple stripped vest to replace her suit jacket, a white formal shirt w a striking blue tie, and her pants pretty much staying the same, with all her clothing having a more masculine silhouette to it. (I imagine Salvatore only buying her men's attire the few chances he does buy her clothing, explained more in relationships). Not only does the clothing suit her slightly plump shape and body more, it suits the attire you would see a more masculine lesbian have at that time.

I did however give her some pearl jewelry and makeup. I can see her smudging on some eyeshadow with her finger and putting on a red lip fairly quickly when she bothers too, nothing much about it. I think it helps her stick out a bit, she can wear it whenever she wants.

However!!! For her pearl Jewlery, it is more significant. They are the few aspects of femininity she feels attached to, ones she refuses to remove unless she has to. Maybe they remind her of Angeline and her other stepmothers in a way, maybe even her birth mother.

Due to the time period (plus Salvatore and all his issues) she would be far worse off than Franco. After all Salvatore is a violent, misogynistic man so to him.....i would imagine having a son with birth defects would be more desirable than a daughter with those same defects. It feels cruel to say it but a ugly son is better than a ugly daughter to him. He's the type of dude to lose his shit when he finds out hes gonna have a daughter, just the worst. I can see Salvatore practically begging or straight up forcing her to either appear more masculine, turning her into the closest thing he can get to a son. She would happily comply too, after all she wants is her father's approval.

To add more insult to injury, the ugly law ordinances would definitely affect her much more due to the harsher appearance constraints women had to deal with at that time. She'd likely stay out more at night than day, hoping the night helps her conceal what remaining bits of her hair cannot.

Everything with Angeline and her other stepmothers still happens, Salvatore is aware of her "homosexual behavior" but only takes issue with it when he finds his own wife taking part in it. She gets beaten, thrown out and disowned the same way Franco is.

(Lil disclaimer!! I am a nb lesbian so im not speaking fully out of my ass here, and she does have some things i have pulled from my own experiences and struggles!!!!!)

She still is heavily attracted to woman like Franco. Whilst i can see Franco being bisexual or even pan, I think there is a chance Francesca either wouldn't be at all attracted to men, or if she was, barely bother with them due to her appearance. (sexism, ableism and all that :/) To me shes a butch lesbian, with HORRIBBLEEE mommy issues like good lord. She sees an older woman and starts going buckwild, practically frothing at the mouth.

Gender identity wise there def is some struggles, after all 40-50s america is not all too kind to gnc women. Much less a queer one.

Due to how gender identities can be intertwined with lesbianism and being butch in general, i can see some her life and presentation weaving into it. Maybe in a better time she would be more comfortable presenting how she truly feels, with less complex and confusing feelings on who she is. Maybe he/him butch lesbian Francesca is out there somewhere...smoking a big cigar...having healthy relationships w women...😭😭😭😭😭 GODDDDD

Okay, here’s the plan

I’m typing this out here even though I have sticky notes on the tanks, so that just in case, I don't forget. (Before you judge, yes, this is a bit extreme. However I’m home all day, and can keep an eye on everyone and do water changes if they start acting weird. And I need to hit this hard, whatever it is that’s up. Everyone is sick in different ways and not getting better.)

Tuesday: Everyone got a dose of prazi in their tanks. Nox and the platies ate fenbendazole bloodworms.

Wednesday: Construction begins on my kitchen. The tanks are sealed with plastic wrap. Nox and the platies get another round of fenbendazole. Lumos moves into a hospital tank (5.5 gallons, heated, unfiltered) with maracyn 2 either Wednesday or Thursday. While his tank is empty, I’ll be dosing ammonia into it to maintain his cycle. 

Thursday: Lumos will be in a quarantine tank today if he wasn't yesterday. He does 5 days of maracyn 2. Nox and the platies get another round of fenbendazole bloodworms.  

Friday: Maybe another round of fenbendazole bloodworms. Not sure yet. Depends on everyone’s behavior. This should be the last day of construction on my kitchen.

Sunday/Monday: Lumos is done with the maracyn. The tank is cleaned and sterilized, and Nox goes into it for his turn. (unless his symptoms are cleared up by then.) Nox will spend 5 days in the hospital tank, and his tank will have ammonia dosed into it. 

I’m going to type out everyone’s symptoms below the cut so I can have a detailed list to track change. 

Lumos: lethargy, not eating, small lump (cyst?) near eye, stress stripes, wasting. Repeatedly treated with prazi to no effect. Longest signs of illness at about 6 months.

Nox: clouded eyes, some bloating, recently been spitting out pellets, and today, holding his gills/beard slightly protruded. Signs for only about a week.

Ajax/Kato: no symptoms

Eon: wasting, lethargy, not eating

Rei: severe wasting, lethargy, not eating, slightly curved spine. (could be from injury or bullying)
