Daggers, daggers, and more daggers!

All hand sculpted in EVA foam which I layered together with barge and then sanded to shape on my band sander.

A basecoat of modge podge, then acrylic paint, and topcoat of modge podge later and you're in business!

These were a very quick project, though some paint jobs took more effort than others. I did however enjoy it very much.

I haven't shown you the finished shield yet so here it is - painted and waterproofed with hooks on the back so I can hang it on my back. To be honest, it came out a little heavy, but I enjoyed the whole process and I will gladly do another shield... or something else.

I made a small eva foam box out of craft sheets. I love it.

Now that the event has passed, I can share the images with you all! I'm super pleased with how this project turned out. The Keystone ref team only asked for the cards, but... I had a vision. So they got the whole nine yards. The cards were done first out of 1/16th inch basswood from the modelmaking section from the craft shop. The cards are about 4x3 inches; they were done as the black basecoat, then the gold borders and backs (and edges, though it’s not obvious in any of these photos).  I sketched out the images beforehand, and then painted white silhouettes on the black cards, then added the details and spot colours. (I gave the Refs the option of either one single cohesive spot colour, or different colours on each card. They went for different colours.) I then did a gloss acrylic varnish, because we had no idea what the weather was going to be for this weekend, and I wanted to make sure these cards would survive whatever mother nature could throw at us.  Once those were done, I decided they really needed a box or case or something. I dug around in the local Works for a bit and was about to give up when i found the perfect box, tucked under and behind a bunch of other boxes. 2 quid and a hour or two of painting later, and I had the outside of the box done.  Then, I had another problem - the inside was just too plain. I had a scrap of this deep red fabric - my partner suggested just wrapping the cards in it, but then I thought I could line the box. Unfortunately, it turned out to be slightly too involved to be worth doing... but I still liked the red fabric. So instead, i made a little pouch out of it and some gold ribbon I had lying around, and then painted the inside of the box to match the pouch.  The cards are:  Book, Question Mark, Broken Heart, A Specific Mask (worn by one of the players), Brain Bond (an IC Coin), ‘Hyperion’ in Greek, Crossed Keys, Comedy & Tragedy, A Rock A Hand in Offering, Middle Finger, Bandaged Hand, Crossed Fingers Podium, Swaddled Babe, Head Being Stepped On, Crown, Ceremonial Mace Snake, Jellyfish, Skull & Potion, Magnifying Glass, Fancy Cake Coffee Mug, Torn Page, (Family) Tree, Goblet, Egg
