#larry doubts

but nobody understands that i get so unsure of larry and doubt myself and H&L and but then i go on tumblr and see gifs and everything is fine again. like im a living breathing larry trainwreck guys help me

Anytime I have any doubt about H/L, if I’m ever concerned that either of them would be upset by my shipping them, I focus on the objective facts and go from there.

And what I focus on is Harry. Harry, who recorded and allowed public posting of his support for the LLGS.

Harry, who said “Happy Pride” at a concert. Who wore a Michael Sam jersey at a concert in the city where he plays football, where everyone would know he was ‘the gay football guy,’ and made sure to point it out to the crowd that he was wearing that jersey.

Harry, who said “Not that important.”

Harry, who said “Don’t knock it till you try it.”

Who said “I study rainbows.”

Would that Harry be upset about being shipped with another man? Or would he support fandom activity that shows pride and support for the LGBT community? Does Harry care about LGBT rights and visibility as much as I do?

Knowing these facts about Harry gives me a lot of confidence to continue supporting him and the LGBT community through my participation in the 1D fandom. And part of that support is supporting Harry. 

I would be disappointed to discover Larry wasn’t real, because I do believe it is. But if it wasn’t real, I wouldn’t feel as though this is time wasted. I wouldn’t feel as though I was doing something that would upset Harry.

All these facts above about Harry, they’re all objectively true. So even if Larry speculation ruined his friendship with Louis, it’s not because of the speculation itself. And it’s not because Harry is homophobic. If it ruined their friendship, it would have had to be because Louis is homophobic. (I don’t think he is, but he’s certainly been painted that way publicly.) But even if that’s true, I’m not going to cater my actions, or tone down my LGBT support because of homophobia. 

I could be wrong about Larry. But I’m not wrong to support Harry who so obviously cares about LGBT individuals and issues. And I’m not wrong to criticize mass media marketing that erases the identities of the people they exploit by “white/straight/nominally-christian” washing them.
