The Planetary Laser War needs YOU
The posters and advertisements started appearing out of nowhere just a week ago. On every street corner of London, every construction site, every newspaper that London had, the ad would appear. "The largest laser tag game ever to be seen by the planet Earth. Recruiting soldiers for the Mars, Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto campaigns. All ages welcome!" it read, in big, bright neon letters. People would pass them by or see it while they were waiting for the bus, automatically drawn in by it's otherworldly design and promise of the best fun anyone's ever seen on Earth yet.
Jenny saw it a few hours after crashing down on Earth, yet again.
She had managed to hitch herself a ride into London after setting up a perception filter around her smoked out ship. It wasn't her first time on Earth or in London, but her womanly wiles worked on any planet. This time, it was some lonely delivery truck driver. Jenny was glad for that, though. He'd been traveling for hours by himself-- she could relate.
When he had dropped her off, the advertisement smacked her rather violently in the face. Literally. A stray newspaper had landed on her face, the wind proving itself more violent than she last remembered.
"'Planetary Laser War?' Largest laser tag game... ever?" Jenny read as she removed the paper from her face, ignoring the laughs of passers by. She grinned as she continued to read. Maybe a game was what she needed at the moment. Fixing the shuttle craft could wait, just so she could see what all the hubbub was about. "I am so there."
"Well, you better hurry. The game's starting in about... ten minutes! I dropped my kid off about an hour ago," said a woman nearby, that had been staring for since the paper hit Jenny's face.
"Oh!" Jenny tossed the newspaper to the stranger-- "Hold that for me, thanks!"-- and ran after a cab that had just passed her by, letting herself in and directing him to take her to the game. "Hurry, please!"
Lucky for her, she arrived just in time.
"Pluto team? Is that even a planet anymore?" Jenny questioned after receiving her fake armor-suit jacket and laser gun from one of the unusually quiet clerks. "Hello? Aren't you going to answer the question? And where's the rest of Pluto? Am I supposed to find them on my own or somethi--"
Just then, a large buzzing noise came over the speakers and Jenny was pushed into a darkly lit room, with random areas lit by black lights and glow-in-the-dark designs painted on the walls of what appeared to be a maze. Jenny beamed at her surroundings; it's been a while since she used a gun. Fake or not, the soldier inside her was pleased.
She ran in.
