BLACKHAWK: FEARLESS CHAMPION OF FREEDOM (1952)

Former big screen Superman Kirk Alyn returns to portraying a comic book hero, this time as Quality Comics' Blackhawk, in a 15-chapter serial.

Blackhawk: Fearless Champion of Freedom was produced by Sam Katzman, notorious as the cheapest man in Hollywood. His penny-pinching is certainly on display here; I've seen high school plays with bigger budgets and better production value.

Alyn is re-united with his Superman (1948) co-star Carol Forman in Blackhawk. Once again she is playing a villainous femme fatale, but instead of the Spider Lady, this time she's an evil spy named Laska; essentially the same role, just with a different name.

THE BEARS ARE FINALLY DONE!!!

Here they all are! Sydney, Roseberry, Juniper, Lavender, Plum, Sunny, and Laska!

These guys used to be called Bakshins (for the bears), but I want to find a better name so I'm just gonna say what kind of bear they can turn into!

Sydney

Sydney has the ability to turn into a Grolar Bear! She's a pretty HUGE bear; she's about the same size as Laska! Just a bit shorter than Rose. She's also Grey's best friend! And she's a pretty good friend; she's kind and pretty protective! Mess with Grey and you get her claws! Grey definitely gets a lot of bear hugs from her. :) She can be kind of a hothead tho, so best not to get on her bad side! When she's not with Grey and stuck with this little group, Sydney doesn't particularly enjoy it. She'd like to rush out there and do things her own way, but with Roseberry that's impossible. On top of that, there are things that Rose says that Sydney doesn't agree with, so they fight quite a bit. It sucks. Sydney is also a fire elemental! She's quite proud of that.

Roseberry

Rose (nickname only close friends use) can turn into a GIANT Polar Bear! As much as Sydney and Laksa are close to her size, Roseberry is taller than them both. She is also Laska's sister. Unlike others, Roseberry doesn't like going headfirst into trouble, teeth bared and claws out. She'd rather think things through and come up with a plan of action. If there is a fight, she'd rather settle things peacefully if she can. Not everyone gives her that choice... She's also a Leader with her own group, she's had that responsibility since she was young, so all that responsibility and stress does wear on her pretty bad. She feels like everyone's lives are in her hands and she's constantly plagued with thoughts of death and how she will lead all her friends to their deaths. She's not having a good time.

Juniper

Juniper is not a bear but can turn into a dog! (Also called Ookashi, but like Bakshin, I want to see if I can find a better name.) She can turn into a Brittany Spaniel! Juniper isn't much of a fighter, she's more of a tracker! She's a bit too skittish to fight and would rather hunt for birds or take care of plants. However, because of her shyness, she's quite easy to push around and bully. She kinda just does whatever people tell her so there's no trouble. Roseberry stands up for her, since they are close childhood friends, but Rose can only do so much for her at times... She is also a plant elemental! She can grow some small juniper bushes with berries that can stop bleeding! She really wishes she can just be a healer at this point, but her role has already been chosen for her.

Lavender

Lavender is Blaire's stepsister and Plum's half-sister! She has the ability to turn into a Black Bear! Lavender isn't a fighter, but a tracker, she helps Roseberry however she can, she's a bit more motivated to find the Wolf than the others but does not want to run into her at all. After Blaire died brutally from the Wolf, Lavender has become extremely protective over her sister Plum. She doesn't want to lose the only family she has left, at this point, she wants to learn how to fight so she can defend herself and Plum if she ever has to. Lavender also loves to paint! In her free time, she can be found at her tent painting forests, mountains, just any landscape! It makes trips out into the woods less anxiety-inducing for her, since she can focus on her environment and what places she could attempt to paint! Plum likes to sit and watch her.

Plum

Plum is Lavender and Blaire's half-sister; she can turn into a Glacier Bear! Plum, ever since she was teeny tiny, stuck to both of her sisters like glue. She's always near one of her sisters, after the death of Blaire, she's now constantly by Lavender's side whenever they are out in the woods. Blaire's death hit Plum really hard. :( She was trained to be a tracker alongside Lavender, so she will help sometimes. But, whenever they are out, Plum is more distracted being a lookout than actually tracking. Which is still helpful in its own way! At camp is where she can truly relax, she likes hanging out with her sister and watching her paint, but sometimes she likes to go and see what Sunny is doing. She kind of has a crush on Sunny, and Lavender likes to tease her about it- well, tease her about anything really.

Sunny

Sunny has the ability to turn into a Brown Bear! (Well, orange I guess) She's the smallest bear out of the whole group. Sunny was thrown into this group when she was not being adopted, she has absolutely zero training and has no idea of the danger she's constantly in. So, she's not as stressed as the others! Like her name, she's literally a ball of sunshine in this fucked up group, always happy and smiling! She's extremely kind and patient, but she's no pushover, she doesn't stand for people's rudeness!

Laska

Laska is Roseberry's sister, she can turn into a Polar Bear! Not as big as Rose, but close enough. Being Rose's sister, Laska always feels like she's in her shadow. Ever since they were kids, Rose got special treatment and important roles, she even eventually got picked as a Leader! Laska was left in the dirt, and she resents her sister for that. Laska and Rose do not get along with each other, anything Rose suggests, Laska sometimes find a way to argue against it or just flat out ignore her. They argue a lot at times, which only adds to Rose's stress, but Laska doesn't care about that. Everything Rose has gotten in life should've been given to her as well!
