A California man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of planning a "Las Vegas-style" mass shooting and threatening to kill cops, police said.

Dallas Marsh, 37, was arrested by SWAT officers at a Super 8 motel in Chico after investigators obtained evidence of his conspiracy, according to a police statement. Authorities have not said what that deadline was, but Saturday marks the fifth anniversary of the Las Vegas massacre. Sixty people were killed and more than 400 injured when Stephen Paddock, 64, opened fire from a high-rise hotel on the Vegas Strip at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on October 1, 2017. According to Chico police, after his arrest, Marsh threatened to kill other officers and their families and hit an officer with a table during an interview. There was no immediate word on a possible motive behind Marsh's alleged conspiracy. He could be charged with criminal threats and beatings against a peace officer, among other things. He was being held without bail in the Butte County Jail. A Facebook account that appears to belong to Marsh contains information and several photos that suggest he is an Army veteran. In his "Intro" section, Marsh wrote that he previously served as the commander of the US Army's Delta Force. The Post has reached out to the military for comment on Marsh's service record.
