Food Friday - Feb 7th, 2020 After School Snack (ASS) Pizza Prep 40 mins
I would like to introduce the world to my original creation After School Snack Pizza - A.S.S. Pizza for short. A name rightly given based on the key ingredients - Mac N Cheese, Hot Dogs, and Apples - All the major food groups for a child who lives in a house with an unfinished basement.
A.S.S. Pizza is a dish so simple a latch key kid home alone could make it.. Not buying it?
Okay, a concoction so simple a Broke ASS College Student could afford it...No?
Alright - A ZA only a Drunk ASS College Student would Scarf it Down
I give you After School Snack Pizza.
- Pizza Crust (Make It or Buy it)
- A Box of Mac N Cheese or Some Easy Mac
- 4-6 Sticks of Mozzarella String Cheese
- A Medium to Large Size Apple (I used a Honeycrisp)
- Begin by cooking your Mac N Cheese. This will be the longest leg of the process besides the baking of the pizza.
- Cook your Hotdogs to your liking. I microwaved my dogs to the point just before the ends explode. Once cooked, dice up your hotdog into bite sized pieces.
- Once your Mac N Chee is ready, stir in your Hotdog chunks into the Mac N Chee and set your mixture aside for assembly.
- Grab your pizza crust. Slather on a thin layer of Honey BBQ Sauce to give the pizza a nice tang.
- Throw on a thin coating of your Mac and Dog mixture.
- Start stripping your Sticks of Cheese into Strings. Arrange your Cheese Strings on top of the pizza to help capture the Mac and Dog mixture. I used a crisscross pattern like that of an apple pie crust.
- Look at your pizza - does it look disgusting? Like something only a kid would eat on a dare? Great - put it in the oven. Bake per the specified pizza crust directions.
- While your pizza is baking, grab your Apple and start slicing thin slices. Set aside for assembly.
Pull your pizza out of the oven. Your String Cheese should be golden brown and holding back your Mac Dog Mixture. Add your Apple Slices.
- Now Internet, I would never lie to you. I ate this whole damn thing. I think it is worth a try.
- Oddly enough it tastes better the second day.
- If you cut enough corners this pizza could be yours for under $5
