In the past month three of my long time maker friends have told me they’re either closing or selling their businesses. With inflation and changing landscapes it just wasn’t the right time to continue on with being a maker/mom and pop. Over the years I’ve watched tons of makers come and go and it just feels like the passage of time, but this grouping hit me hard…these are friends of mine that I collect and love. Their works are all over my house and I have loved watching them grow over the years. On this sunny Sunday morning I am wondering…are we making a concerted effort to support our friends and their projects and their businesses? I fear we’ve allowed the delivery and instant gratification of places like Amazon to replace the old school love of the little guy and timeless craft. In the comments tag a small business or two that you love so that we can all start following along. #shopsmall #liveauthentic #livefolk #makermade.
