Zero Love For Tennis Elbow!
Tennis Elbow occurs in 40% of tennis players, 15% of repetitive manual trade workers, and does not discriminate on its victims. Tennis Elbow is caused by damaged muscle tissue at the point it anchors to the arm bone at the elbow. It occurs when more force is applied to an area than the normal healthy tissues can handle. Tennis elbow can cause pain when performing gripping tasks or resisted wrist/finger extensions and can present with stiffness or tenderness of the neck as well as signs of nerve irritation. Some causes for Tennis Elbow can include:
Unaccustomed hand use. eg painting a fence, hammering, lots of typing.
Excessive gripping or wringing activities
Poor forearm muscle strength or tight muscles
Poor technique (this may be a poor tennis shot)
Chronic Tennis Elbow is associated with degenerative changes in the muscle tissues located at the epicondyle.
There are a number of effective ways of treating and managing pain associated with Tennis Elbow, some of these include:
Physiotherapy
Soft Tissue Massage
Yoga
Heat Packs
TENS Machine
