I found the @latinasuperheroes series on Kickstarter, and it sounded right up my alley. Now that I’ve read the first 2 books in the series, I’m absolutely a fan. The idea of a universe of Latina superheroes produced by Latina creators and dealing with the concerns of Latina women is something I very much want to support, as long as the stories are actually good. And they are! The characters are unique and distinctive, as well as likable. The world @kaydenphoenix has created is both familiar and compellingly weird & different. And the art by @evacabrera and @amandajulina is gorgeous! My only concern is I felt that I didn’t get a clear sense of the villains’ motivations, as if the writer was trying not to be too obvious and maybe went to far in the other direction. But the second book was clearer than the first, and I expect this good series to keep getting better. Plus I’d rather read a story with rough edges, but still told with passion & a point of view than a pitch-perfect story about a couple of decades-old corporate-owned characters fighting each other over nothing.
