2010 - 2020 marks 10 years Werenbach wristwatches !
In the spring of 2010, Swiss entrepreneur Patrick Hohmann got the exciting & unique idea of building wristwatches out of metal from real-life Soyuz space rockets. Two minutes after launch from Baikonur, the 4 strap-on boosters of the 45 m high Russian Soyuz launchvehicles are jettisoned and fall back to Earth in uninhabited areas some 350 kilometers from the launchpad. Having almost skipped the edge of space, these boosters are located by the Werenbach team in order to collect spaceborn metal from these powerful rockets... metal to be used in Werenbach watches!
In the autumn of 2013, the first Werenbach wristwatch was produced and since then the Leonov & Soyuz series Werenbach watches have excited both spaceflight & wristwatch aficionados.
Since July 2011, the Russian Soyuz launch vehicle is the only way to ferry crews up & down to the ISS - International Space Station...
In September 2015, Danish ESA-astronaut Andreas Mogensen wore a ‘57 Werenbach Spaceborn chronograph during the IRIIS mission to the International Space Station!
