Petition to bring back Laura for Unvergänglich!
I know, I know, they're already done filming. So I guess I'm saying I'll be disappointed if she isn't in it. With them hinting at bringing back some old characters, she'd be the obvious choice (besides Carlo).
I would like to learn what she did with her life in the past 35 years.
(It looks like the actor Manuela Bauer doesn't work as an actor anymore. She now appears to be primarily a writer. But, y'know, she could do it again just this once.)
juxtaposition is such a fun word like i have no idea what it means but it’s just so fun

He sits between her legs on the couch, eyes closed and head against the back of the couch. Courtney’s hands brush through his dark curls. She rubs her thumb on the apple of his cheek and Spencer hums quietly.
“How are you doin’, baby?” Courtney says, almost a whisper.
“Mm-m…good…” He mumbles as her fingers twirl and scratch at his scalp, “When is Shayne getting home?” He asks while yawning.
“Soon. You’re sick of me already?” Courtney says teasingly, tugging at his curls causing him to moan softly.
“I want- I want both of you….” His eyes finally open and make contact with her. The blur clouding his vision slowly fades and he sees Courtney, looking both sympathetic and also surprised at his forwardness.
“What would you like from us, Spence?”
Courtney removed their arm from the back of the couch and released their hand from his hair, setting it gently on the top of his thigh. Spencer is still making eye contact with her while his temple rests on the back of the couch. He looks amused by her ask… He was here to unwind after a long week of work, although his text message asking to come over caught Courtney a bit by surprise. They love Spencer, and they know Shayne does too, but they have never explicitly spoken about their relationship status or feelings towards one another. Courtney will occasionally rest their hand on the small of Spencer’s back while walking past, or kiss him on the cheek as a goodbye; Maybe even an occasional mindless hand hold under the table during a games video. At this point, Spencer doesn’t really know why he even texted Courtney out of everyone, and unbeknownst to him, Courtney doesn’t even really know why she said yes either. It isn’t that she wouldn’t want to hang out with him after work and unwind, but they had just seen each other an hour ago. Then, how did they end up here, with Courtney sideways on the couch, her hands in Spencer's hair and him moaning at her touch.
Her hand is still on his thigh and it feels like her heartbeat is in her throat. Spencer’s looking at her expectantly now. His fingers inch towards hers and they just barely meet.
“When Shayne gets here, do you wanna cuddle for a little bit?” She blurts, her voice as quiet as before and slightly unsure at the offer. Spencer only raises his eyebrows,
“Are you volunteering that your husband cuddles with me?” A smirk peeks out of the side of his mouth.
“I mean….. I’m offering that all three of us cuddle?” It comes out as a question. Courtney’s mouth is closed tight and she waits for an answer. She can see the deep breath Spencer takes in his chest and he lifts her hand from his thigh to his mouth, kissing the back of it softly and looking up at her with his half lidded eyes.
Courtney takes that as an answer and smiles fondly at him, resting her head against the back of the couch, facing Spencer. They sit patiently, eyes closed in comfortable silence as they wait for Shayne to arrive.
-
It’s not long before they hear keys jingle from outside of the front door, lock clicking as Shayne lets himself into his home. Directly across from the front door is Courtney and Spencer on the couch, still with eyes closed and facing one another. He smiles and raises an eyebrow before approaching Courtney from behind and placing a kiss on the back of her head. His eyes peer out from above it and meet Spencer’s, looking longingly and expectantly at him.
“What’s.. goin’ on, guys?” Shayne says softly, not feeling particularly accusatory even though he did just come home to his best friend and his wife sitting on the couch across from each other and holding hands. Courtney looks directly up and talks to the underside of Shayne’s chin,
“We had a long day and would like to cuddle.” Courtney says matter-of-factly, like this is something obvious and that they’ve totally done this before.
“We?” Shayne looks down from Spencer and back at Courtney, raising both eyebrows this time.
“Spencer specifically asked for both of us.” She whispers back to him, as if Spencer can’t hear her speaking from less than a foot away on the same couch. Shayne just takes his hand and rests it on the side of Courtney’s head, rubbing softly at their hair and messing it up slightly. They lean into the touch anyway and Spencer sucks in a bit of a breath while watching them both.
“If it’s not your vibe tonight, I understand.” Spencer says to Shayne, obviously hoping otherwise. He knows he did just kind of spring this on the both of them, but Courtney did say yes to his request to come over, so he feels a bit like he has a right to be there, no matter Shayne’s response.
Shayne looks from Spencer, to the top of Courtney’s head below him, to the hallway leading to the bedroom and then back to meet Spencer’s eyes. He doesn’t respond, just jerks his head in the direction of the hallway and moves silently. Courtney reacts by getting up to follow him, dragging Spencer’s hand with them.
Once they make it to Shayne and Courtney’s bedroom, Spencer takes a second to look around. He’s never been in this room before, always only here for game nights, work parties or short visits. The bed is made but has indents where cats walked upon the comforter. Courtney takes initiative and scoots to her side of the bed. She puts her arm across the pillows and pats next to her while nodding at Spencer. Spencer pauses, immediately assuming that she didn’t actually mean it and that the gesture was for Shayne, but Shayne doesn’t seem to move. Instead, he walks over to the closet and starts unbuckling his jeans, dropping them to his ankles and pulling them off. He seems so… calm, so nonchalant about all of this. He just came home to his wife and coworker on his couch holding hands. Why is he so chill? Spencer thinks, but obliges anyway to Courtney’s original offer.
Spencer flops his body directly into the middle of the bed, resting his head on Courtney’s bicep and essentially putting his nose in between their breasts in front of him. Spencer would be more concerned about the repercussions and technicalities of all of this if he wasn’t so goddamn tired. He feels the bed sink behind him as Shayne sets himself down on the edge of the bed. This bed definitely barely fits the three of them, but they all seem to be okay with it. Shayne’s hand hovers over Spencer’s hip, making eye contact with Courtney in the process. She smiles back at him and winks, giving silent permission for him to touch their friend. He sets his hand down and rubs his thumb in the spot like he had done to Courtney’s head earlier, this time eliciting a soft moan from Spencer and he cuddles further into Courtney’s chest. He’s literally being enveloped by his two coworkers, in their bed, in their home. He’ll have more thoughts and opinions about it later, but for now, he’s falling asleep in Courtney’s arms, dreaming about the thought of the three of them together, exactly like this.
When Spencer wakes up, it’s still extremely dark. He feels fingers wrapped around his waist, an arm still tucked between his neck and the pillows, and a leg in between his own. Courtney is facing towards him, reminiscent of how she sat on the couch with him earlier. He thinks back to how she looked across from him at that moment. How beautiful she was, how she looked at him with such care; how she patted the spot next to her and immediately enveloped him in her essence.
Shayne sleeps soundly behind Spencer, face tucked deep into the crevasse of his neck and his nose directly in Spencer’s hair. Spencer feels a tingling heat crawl through his body and under his skin. He can’t even believe this is happening. It’s not like he has anywhere to be in the morning.
Spencer’s mind continues racing at the thought of the conversation about this moment happening in just a few hours, as Courtney begins to stir in front of him. She opens one eye at a time as she meets his eye contact. Spencer lets out the breath he was holding to whisper to her.
“Hey-” He falters, unsure of what to say at this moment as Courtney is clearly half asleep, squinting at him in the darkness, “I can’t believe Shayne is spooning me right now.”
Spencer immediately winces at what he just said, feeling the heat rising in his body and he waits expectantly for a response. He assumes Court can’t see the heavy blush across his cheeks right now.
Courtney now has both eyes open and he can barely make out a small grin on her face. By the time his eyes focus to see it, Court has already started moving their body to flip to their stomach. Through the fabric of the pillow, he hears her speak.
“Lucky.. Shayne always wants to be little spoon.”
He grins at that, feeling like he got a sense of approval from her in a way.
Spencer slowly reaches out as to not wake Shayne and rests his hand on the back of Courtney’s head. He feels her twitch slightly beneath him and almost goes to pull back, but then leaves it for another few seconds. He waits for any response, any reaction, but nothing comes. Spencer curls his pointer finger around a group of strands, just holding them for a bit, before opting to comb the rest through her blonde strands. He repeats the process after he’s reached the end, purposely scratching his short fingernails onto her scalp softly. Enough for them to feel it, to hum quietly. What he doesn’t expect is for them to pull their hand out from underneath their pillow and reach it under Spencer’s to meet his, weaving her delicate fingers in between them.
At this point, Spencer is grinning like a freak. His teeth are basically shining in the moonlight. Courtney can’t even see what they’re doing to him, face still tucked deep into their pillow.
He doesn’t even really remember falling asleep the first time, much less the second time. By the time Spencer opens his eyes again, Shayne is no longer in the shared bed and the sunlight is peeking out above the blackout curtains. The rays curved in a scalloped pattern across the ceiling. His eyes drag from the spot where Shayne once lay, to the clock on the dresser reading 6:27 AM. Spencer doesn’t have Shayne’s schedule memorized, but he’s pretty sure the guy works out at ass-o-clock in the morning. Too early for Spencer’s gamer brain, but he needs to pee.
He pries himself out slowly from under the sheets so as not to wake Courtney, and heads to the third room in this house that he is actually familiar with. He approaches and sees the door closed and a light glowing from underneath.
Shayne is still home then, Spencer thinks, or maybe he already came back?
As he finishes his thought, the sound of the lock clicking and the doorknob turning wakes him up completely from his haze. This is the first time they’ve spoken since….
“Hey.” Spencer says, again fully cringing at his lack of filter in his tired state. Shayne gives him a wave and his classic white-person smile in response,
Spencer starts again, “I appreciate you guys letting me crash last night. I’m sorry if I got in your way or anything.”
“No, it’s okay. It was uh- “ Shayne falters, he gestures his hands towards the general direction of the bedroom and points an unenthusiastic finger before trailing off. Shayne meets Spencer’s eyes and almost looks frustrated with his inability to find words.
“It was important to Courtney.” Shayne finally squeaks out, his eyes wide and expectant, waiting for Spencer’s response. He looks a little bit like he’s going to explode.
“How did you feel about it, though?” Spencer asks softly. He’s never felt this nervous around Shayne before. This…perceived? It almost feels like the incorrect word to place onto this moment. He’s been perceived by Shayne for years. Spencer is technically his boss, in a way. Why does he feel like he’s melting? The air around them is tense and the thought of peeing has completely left Spencer’s mind. There’s a few seconds of silence between the two men before Shayne finally responds.
“Fine.” He said sharply, almost like he was holding his breath. Shayne continues to look like he’s seconds away from exploding, Spencer thinks, but then the other man continues.
“You seemed really tired...” He trails off with a faint nod.
Spencer raises his eyebrows, suddenly feeling his regular cockiness seeping back into him. His first instinct is to give Shayne shit for not truly answering the question he was asked, but he is also a guest in their home. Spencer reluctantly abstains from giving him a hard time, but gives him the same goofy grin that he had had plastered on his face after Courtney held his hand earlier.
What the fuck is even happening? What is he doing? What did he expect to happen? His straight, married coworker and his queer, also married coworker would let him throuple up with them for an evening? What the fuck. What the fuck.
His smile falls and he and Shayne are still standing off as Shayne takes up the whole bathroom doorway. The awkward air between them is thick and Spencer almost takes another crack at trying to break Shayne’s stiffness before he feels the pressure of a cat leaning its entire weight on his legs. He looks down and sees Shayne and Courtney’s beautiful black and white baby, Bones, looking expectantly back up at him. Shayne chuckles at his cat and leans down to run his hand across his fur and down the length of his tail.
Spencer feels overwhelmed by the feeling of the dryness of his mouth as he looks at his friend in front of him,
“Well, I’m gonna…uhh…” He gestures towards the bathroom, Shayne still blocking the path to the bathroom. Shayne sputters a bit in realization before scooching Bones softly with his foot as he moves out of the way for Spencer. Once Spencer passes the other man and has the door shut and locked behind him, he lets out the largest sigh of his life. What the fuck.
He finishes his business with what feels like millions of thoughts going through his head. Spencer feels frozen in this half-bath right now. If he knew any better, he would leave now and just pretend this never even happened. Maybe text Courtney a quick goodbye on his way out. He could go to work and see them and never mention sleeping in their bed cuddling with them, because this is just what good friends do, right? They’re not just coworkers, they’re definitely his good friends. After Alex left Smosh, Shayne and Courtney both even offered a shoulder to lean on. This is just that and maybe some work decompressing, for sure. Yeah.
Spencer’s rambling thoughts pause as he hears pats on the ground coming from the direction of the door. He glances over and sees a black and white paw slipped underneath the crack and gripping onto the door, quietly scratching claws against the wood. Spencer can’t help but smile and let out a puff of air through his nose. At this point, he’s got both hands gripping the sides of the bathroom sink as he turns to face himself in the mirror.
Spencer focuses on his own sullen eyes and the deep, dark circles underneath them. The scruffy beard he has with small glimmers of grey hairs peeking out. He knows he needed the rest last night, and arguably needs food too at this point, but part of him still feels like this was all a mistake. He begrudgingly goes to twist the doorknob to let himself out, and when he opens the door, Spencer is met again with Shayne standing in the hallway looking apologetic,
"I'm sorry… I kinda got stuck here thinking about the best way to talk about this whole uhh.." Shayne gestures his hands around aimlessly to try to find his wording, but nothing comes out.
"It's ok, really. I'll get out of your hair now." Spencer says, his shoulders even more tense than before.
"No, no.. that's not what I mean. I-" Shayne glances up at the ceiling as he struggles to decide on the best thing to say, "I enjoyed last night." He then meets Spencer's gaze once again, his puppy dog eyes on full display,
"I was gonna make you breakfast but then I wanted to um.. talk first.. before…"
Spencer raises his eyebrows at Shayne and the corner of his lip curls upwards in a small grin,
"So… How are you feeling, then?" Spencer asks quietly,
Shayne shuffles his feet and begins to look at his fingers, very obviously nervous. Spencer almost felt proud to have the other man so shy and small like this . He feels his confidence building up more and more as he sees Shayne unravel in front of him.
"Uhh- good?" Shayne says quickly, "Courtney really likes you…. you know?"
Here is the beginning of that shit eating grin on Spencer's face again. This isn't exactly new information to Spencer, but it feels different coming from Courtney's actual husband. His heart swells in his chest and he remembers how her hand felt in his hair the night before. The way she comforted him and stroked the nape of his neck as she twirled his curls around her fingers. The way she cradled him in her arms as they fell asleep together.
"I like her, too. A lot, actually"
They sit in silence once again, shuffling feet and averting their gazes. This time it feels a little less tense, with Shayne's words basically confirming that he is okay with his wife's crush on their best friend. Spencer just isn't sure if he's aware that Spencer likes him, too. He's still hovering in the doorway of the bathroom, mirroring Shayne from before. Spencer takes this lull as an opportunity to take a couple steps towards Shayne and lean against the same wall as him, shoulders just barely brushing against each other. Neither of them makes eye contact, only looking forwards at the blank hallway wall in front of them,
"I like you a lot, too." Spencer blurts quietly, "I don't know if you could've guessed that."
Shayne turns his head and something about his face reads mischievous,
"I probably could've guessed that." He says in a similar volume as Spencer, but this time with a giggle sitting behind his words. Shayne crosses his arms and squeezes his mouth closed trying to hold back laughter, but at this point the dam has broken for the both of them. They fall apart into quiet giggles before eventually resettling into the silence. Spencer rests his temple on Shayne's shoulder and lets a relieved breath out through his nose. Shayne curls his arm gently so as to not move Spencer's head and softly rests his hand onto Spencer's face, cradling it against his shoulder.
