anyway my headcanon is that laurel lightfoot is openly bisexual and after the end of the movie she realizes she’s fallen for corey, so she breaks up with that annoying centaur cop whose name i don’t even remember and confesses to her and then they start dating because corey is a lesbian who developed a crush on her too during their adventure together. ian and barley are a little confused and awkward about it at first—not because they have any issue with their mom having a girlfriend, but because she’s the manticore and they didn’t exactly get off on the right foot—but they’re still happy for their mother and over time they grow to really love their new second mom.

Can we get acomplete rundown of everybody on the team here? Just so we can get to know everyone a little bit better before we bombard y'all with questions.
Backman, a bit cocky but otherwise average, stuck in his college days
Bailey, jumpy and jittery, absolutely hates graveyard shifts
Calhoun, big jokester, really into aliens & conspiracy shit
Cassello, looks angrier than he really is, not a big talker
Coomer, pretty overly-friendly and a bit of a pushover
Dunn, short-tempered, just as angry as he looks
Jones, a bit lethargic and sarcastic, otherwise just wants to do his job and go home
Laurey, little bit of a coward but does his job, pretty easy to talk to
Lombardi, most squeamish guy on the team, can't even handle spiders
O'Conner, pretty friendly, thinks Calhoun's jokes are the funniest shit ever
Miller, tired as all hell, hard to tell if he's actually listening to anything you say
Pauly, pretty naive compared to the other guards, a real softie
and-- wait, who is that?
I saw the Oklahoma Revival on October 5th at 8 pm with Damon Daunno as Curley, Rebecca Naomi Jones as Laurey, Mary Testa as Aunt Eller, Ali Stroker as Ado Anne, Will Brill as Ali Hakim and Patrick Vaill as Jud Fry and James Davis as Will Parker-- here's what I saw I liked/ noted about it! (please note,, its Friday right now,, and I saw it last Saturday ((oops I procrastinated)) but! I’m seeing it again for my birthday so I’ll hopefully make a more detailed review/ experience after that ((I will focus more on Anne, Gertie, Ali and Will)
🤠Firstly, I loved the placement and costumes of the orchestra. Secondly, besides the crock pots, piles of corn in the middle of the tables, and fringe hanging down from the ceiling, the most noticeable decoration is guns. There are about seven or eight clusters of riffles decorating the walls. terrifying. ((thirdly I was emo because last time I was in the circle in the square I was seeing once on this island ((((one of my all time favorites)))) and I was sad because it looked so different and unrecognizable.
🤠The show starts by everyone walking on stage and sitting at spots at the wooden tables that line the set. Rebecca Namoi Jones is standing near their exit and Aunt Eller is across from that closest to the bowl of cornbread.
🤠I feel like in the original version Curly sings the first lines as he’s walking on stage. Damon is just chillin on the stage with his guitar
🤠Of course Damon opens the show with “Oh What a beautiful morning,” and he’s playing the guitar and I love him
🤠When he says “oh the cattle are standing like statues, he walks by Laurey and looks her up and down.
🤠Honestly,, I’m still trying to figure out Damon’s curly. The character gets progressively more confusing as the show goes on, but for right now, Curly is supposed to be a suave music boy. So. I got major Damon!Orpheus vibes
🤠Wow I love Mary Testa.
🤠When Aunt Eller starts singing with Curly during “Oh What a Beautiful Morning,” she is making cornbread.
🤠When they’re singing and they stretch that note,, omg its so cute I’m soft and they end up laughing and hgrlhg
🤠Lauren is standing directly across the stage from them during her “entrance” (she's already on stage though)
🤠The lighting shifts to green when Laurey and Curly interact for the first time in the show
🤠Nothing is more iconic than Damon singing Surrey with the Fringe on Top
🤠 When Laurey learns that the Surrey doesn’t exist, she chases Curly offstage with a spoon lol.
🤠When Will is introduced, he’s sitting at a table and he tries to prop his feet on it, but he falls out of his chair lol (I think he's sitting with his hat pulled on his face? I don't remember but he does that at some point)
🤠James Davis in Kansas City. So much energy. He literally dances on tables and is hoping over the crockpots
🤠Ali Stroker is adorable and such a talent
🤠When she starts swinging the mic during “I Cain’t say No,”
🤠During Many a New Day, the women are shucking corn. Rebecca Naomi Jones starts by tossing the ears to the other women
🤠She aggressively throws Gertie’s corn at her feet lol
🤠But they frustratedly rip corn in half and toss it in a bucket lol. We love an innuendo.
🤠Will Brill is a comic (His voice reminds me of Nick Choksi,,,,, a concept…?? hahaha nooo,,,,, unless??)
🤠Laurey high key (lovingly) hates Curley’s guitar
🤠They are at opposite side of the stage at the beginning of People Will Say We’re in Love
🤠DON’T TOUCH MY HAT
🤠Lol she throws it across the table
🤠When its Curly’s verse, Damon is playing the guitar and Rebecca kinda sexily/comically struts/ dances up to him (she throws a chair down to get to him lol.
🤠I don’t remember if they kiss or not, (I don’t think they do) but they basically sing the words into each others mouths)
🤠 So this scene was super cute and both of the actors made me soft and then there’s the blackout
🤠I was confused at first, but its the scene before Pore Jud is Daid.
🤠For the actual song, their faces are projected. It was so intense to see Patrick Vaill’s face. It made the scene more heartbreaking. I love the tune of the song, but god damn, its the most depressing shit.
🤠The illumination from the projection allows you to see Damon and Patrick sitting on the table in the center of the stage. Patrick Is holding a mic I think
🤠They also get so close during the final lines of the song. They basically sing the last line into each others mouths too lol
🤠Then the projection goes out, but its still dark. Its not pitch black tho, like it was before.
🤠They have the scene with the guns, and the light don’t come up fully until Aunt Eller comes in to scold them.
🤠Lonely Room. Firstly, I loved the orchestra, and I was entranced by them playing the creepy beginning to this song lol.
🤠But wow. Jud went through major reconstruction. He’s clearly not innocent, or really by any means a good person, but this shows his struggles a bit more clearly. I wouldn’t go as far as to say I feel badly for him, but it makes the viewer realize that the towns treatment of him is unacceptable.
🤠Yes, they really let everyone get chili and cornbread at intermission. I love sweet corn bread, so it was some bomb cornbread imo. The chili was pretty good too lol.
🤠Also?? I Felt so fucking powerful walking across the stage to get the chili bc wow Damon was just standing here, and now I am eye-
🤠At some point, the picture that is projected throughout the show changes and is animated so smoke is coming out of one of the chimneys
🤠I’m dumb I didn’t realize that the smelling salts were drugs and the dream ballet was a symptom of that. Which brings me to….
🤠Wow,,, I have no?? Words for the dream ballet?? (Also I had an understudy who performed it, and she was fucking amazing) but. I knew nothing about Oklahoma when I first came into the show, so I was very confused. ((also also,,, Aisha Mitchell danced at this performance
🤠The movements of the dance were jerky and honestly really confusing. She galloped around the stage like a horse for the first few minutes.
🤠The music of the background was an electric guitar playing the score, which only added to my confusion
🤠Also, the strange/ sexy, erratic dance that Laurey does in People will say we’re in love? The dancer imitates that for a few seconds.
🤠At some point she runs to the back of the stage and the lights go off. When they come back on, she is plastered to the back wall and Rebecca I(Laurey) is staring at her
🤠She’s standing in a split basically, and she lowers her foot by running it down in front of Laurey
🤠Also, boots start falling from the ceiling. They sounded like gunshots so it was kinda alarming at first. About 6-8 boots fall from the ceiling
🤠And then. Jud just comes on stage, crawling and just crazily pushes them offstage as he slinks across. Honestly more confusion on my end.
🤠COSTUMES OH MY GOD——— THE COTUMES,, I would wear each and every one out tbh,,,
🤠 The farmer and the cowboy should be friends was just a generally, happy upbeat dance scene. It was fun
🤠There the bit where Gertie reveals she married Ali Hakim (I didn’t mention it before, but theres a funny scene somewhere earlier where Ali Hakem gives Anne a “persian goodbye” which consisted of very long drawn out, passionate kisses in front of Will who in turn shows her an Oklahoma hello) and Will tells Ali Hakim he’s gonna pay foreword the kisses that he and Annie shared and he kisses Gertie. Anyway. Annie chases Gertie off the stage with a gun in her lap.
🤠The bidding scene was heartbreaking, because at this point, you are seriously questioning both Jud and Curly’s role in this play. Also Patrick Vaill’s facial expressions are so amazing,, I’m not sure how he didn’t get a Tony nom?
🤠After the bidding Jud and Laurey are alone—- The lights go off again
🤠 you can hear them kissing and then all of a sudden you can hear Jud unbuckling his belt
🤠 the lights come back on as Laurey fires him and calls out for Curley
🤠 when ado Annie and Will come back on stage she has hay in her hair and all over her clothes and so does he but he also has a long piece in his mouth lol
🤠okay the ending. I will put it under a cut because it will be all spoilers lol
🤠So Laurey and Curley get engaged as you probably already know lol,, and for the wedding they have an all white costume change
🤠 Jud shows up to the wedding and everybody is a little shook. He enters through the middle door holding a box. He says he has a gift for the groom, but first he wants to kiss the bride
🤠 He walks over to Laurey and at first she’s hesitant but they eventually have a really soft looking kiss (not soft as in sweet, but it wasn’t aggressive)
🤠 Then he goes over to Curly whose just kinda frozen and hands him the box
Curly is hesitant also but when he takes it he opens it quickly
🤠 It’s a gun. And at first I was scared bc I knew the ending was different from the original so I wasn’t sure who was going to end up injured
🤠 Curly just kinda stares at the gun but Jud puts it in his hand (if I remember correctly)
🤠 Laurey moves and stands in between them, but she eventually moved back to stand next to Curly with their fingers intertwined
🤠 At first I thought that nothing was gonna happen, but Jud makes the tiniest movement and Curly shoots him without hesitation
🤠 Blood splatters all over he and Laurey but nobody movies
🤠Jud remains standing until they start the trial in which case he walks behind Curley and Laurey and lies there
🤠 honestly it was really painful because CLEARLY Curly was guilty but since they didn’t change the script,. He wasn’t and he got off on his trial. It was terribly dark and honestly depressing
🤠 Oklahoma playing after that made it even worse because they were CELEBRATING covered in blood after Curly literally murdered a man.
🤠 And then there’s oh what a beautiful morning reprise which is just heinous because there is NOTHING beautiful about what just happened.
🤠 Honestly @every subsequent revival of anything, take notes because this is how it’s done
