with cersei and margaery i always thought it has something to do with robert and joffrey/tommen being kings so their wives dont take their surnames because they’re not really a part of the “royal house”..

the reasoning behind cersei and margaery keeping their surnames is that they married into royalty. you can only ever be born into the royal family, you don’t become a royal if you marry one, hence cersei and marg never being referred to as baratheon
