what’s hanan’s clan like?
Hi!! Thanks for the ask :-)
I haven't expanded too much on the clan except for Hanan's immediate family, but I can share some headcanons!
Different clans have different dialects. It just makes sense to me because of how spread out the dalish are and how many other cultures they intract with for trade. This is also because I wanted to have filipino honorifics like manang, I was way too uncomfortable to address Hanan's sister by her name.
Lavellan closely observe Vir Bor'Ass/Way of the Bow: bend but never break. "As the sapling bends, so must you. In yielding, find resilience; in pliancy, find strength." (from the dragon age wiki)
My clan Lavellan settled near Dirthavaren after sustaining enough people in the clan for the nomadic lifestyle to be more difficult than staying in one place.
They often trade with Montsimmard and Verchiel.
Vallaslin goes further than the face. For many of the clan they have their vallaslin typically covering their upper body and arms.
Vallaslin colors distinguish the bloodlines of the clan. Hanan's bloodline along with 2 sister bloodlines have gold vallaslin, these 3 bloodlines bore the most mages to the clan. Hanan didn't inherit magic. Those three bloodlines are also trusted with most human interactions and clan issues. The keeper of the clan and the bloodline of the hahren have pale vallaslin. Hunters have red vallaslin. Healers, hearthmistresses, and craftsmasters vallaslin are green.
Hunters consist of archers and warriors. Hanan struggled to shoot an arrow and lost every fight she got into when she tried to be a warrior. Her father put away his sword and shield to learn how to dual wield blades so she could still fight in her own way. Hanan started winning fights.
Lavellan partakes in a lot of arranged marriages, it was their way to grow in numbers. One's immediate family talks with the keeper to create a match.
Following real filipino tradition, funerals are attended in white.
That's all I can think of for now! If theres any specific questions feel free to ask! :-)
