Sins in Satanism
Did you know that Satanism has its own sins? These are known as The Nine Satanic Sins and were written by Anton LaVey in 1987. They serve as warning signs to avoid getting carried away from our Satanic ways and reach our maximum potential, since we are the highest embodiment of mankind, as described in The Satanic Bible (1969). If you want to learn more about what these sins are about, keep reading!
1) Stupidity. This is described as "The Cardinal Sin", the worst of all nine, and it has to do with believing everything we are told by society. One should always strive to question everything and form their own understanding of the world, away from stupid trends. Not to be confused with ignorance. 2) Pretentiousness. Bragging can be as detrimental as stupidity, since it shows a hollow and empty representation of our own selves. Especially for witches, pretentiousness doesn't apply to the teachings of Lesser Magic. 3) Solipsism.
This one can be especially harmful. LaVey advices not to deposit blind trust into people and to "do unto others as they do to you", especially with those who are not in our same syntony.
4) Self-deceit.
It's described as another Cardinal Sin. Fooling ourselves is never an option in any scenario, as we'd be willingly limiting our own potential.
5) Herd Comformity.
This one is related to the sin of Stupidity. Those who let themselves be controlled by an impersonal doctrine or entity go along with the herd, and fall in the category of fools. You're free to choose your master, even if it's yourself!
6) Lack of Perspective. This is another dangerous one for any Satanist, LaVeyan or not. Never lose track of who you are, what you're capable of and where you're headed. Realize your true power always. This is especially important for witches who work with the Lesser and the Greater Magic. 7) Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies. We're encouraged to never forget what came before us and to not accept it when it's rebranded and presented to us as new. As a wise man once said, "those who don't learn from their past are doomed to repeat it". 8) Counterproductive Pride. Pride itself isn't a sin here, as we should always feel proud of who we are. However, when that pride is doing us more harm than good, then it's time to push it to the side and look for a solution for any potential trouble we might've caused. 9) Lack of Aesthetics. This sin is particularly attached to the physical presentation of our beliefs. While aesthetics are personal, we should always have an eye for beauty. Again, this is especially important for witches and the Balance Factor in Lesser Magic.
Now you know the Satanic Sins! Use this knowledge to mold your own path as you see fit and become the best version of yourself. Thanks for reading!
It is Done. Hail Satan.
