i’ve been pretty inactive lately just because uni has been really overwhelming. case studies, reportings, and research have been piling up nonstop, so most days i just end up stuck at my table trying to finish everything one by one. it’s been the same routine for a while now, and honestly it gets tiring in a way i don’t always notice right away. this morning though, i finally went out and went back to my favorite reading spot, just to take a break for a bit. i brought a book with me and just sat there without rushing anything, not thinking about deadlines or what i still need to do later. it felt simple, but in a good way, like i could breathe a little outside of everything i’ve been dealing with. i didn’t realize how much i needed that pause until i actually had it. i’m still tired, nothing really changes that overnight, but today felt a bit lighter, and for now that’s enough.

went out for a walk today, just to get some sun, and the weather was really nice. i brought my book with me and continued reading at the park while sipping on my iced coffee. there’s something comforting about doing the same little routine in a space that feels familiar and safe.
after being desk-bound for a few days, going outside always brings this sense of relief i can’t really explain. the air feels different when i breathe it in, lighter somehow, and my body finally feels awake again. moments like this remind me that I’m more than just deadlines and hours spent sitting still, im alive, and i'm allowed to pause and exist for a while. 🤎

still awake because i have three finals on monday and apparently my professors all decided to test the limits of my remaining brain cells before the semester ends ㅠㅠ reproductive physiology, beef and cattle production, and methods of research all at once is actually insane. i’ve been studying for hours now and i swear everything is starting to mix together in my head. hormones, cattle systems, research designs… all of it just floating around in my brain with zero organization.
i’m trying so hard to stay focused but i’m already at that point where reading feels more like staring . thankfully the pomodoro technique is helping me survive a little. been doing 25 mins study then 5 mins break and honestly those 5 minute breaks feel life changing right now. sometimes during breaks i just scroll for a bit, stare at the wall, or question every academic decision i’ve ever made before going back to my notes again 🫠
my sleep schedule is so ruined lately. i’ve been sleeping late almost every night trying to catch up with everything before finals week ends. my desk is messy, my highlighters are everywhere, my back hurts, and my eyes feel so tired already. undergrad life really is just constantly being overwhelmed but still continuing anyway because what other choice do you even have sigh.
and the thing stressing me out more is after finals, we’re already getting deployed for our 2-month ojt this may 31. like wow okay no recovery period at all. it feels so weird because i’ve been waiting for this part of college for so long but now that it’s actually happening, i feel nervous and excited at the same time. life’s been moving so fast lately that i barely even have time to process anything properly anymore.
but this is my last push for the semester fr. after monday i can finally rest without feeling guilty for not studying. i just need to lock in a little longer and survive these exams. tired as hell but we move i guess.

i went out on a café date with the loml this morning to try a new coffee place in our hometown. it took us a while to find it because google maps wasn’t cooperating, but we didn’t really mind. it felt nice taking our time. the café was quiet and far from the busy road, which made it easy to stay longer than planned.
we ordered the burnt strawberry cheesecake, burnt strawberry toast, and shared their best-seller, the bean park latte. everything was really good—both pastries were an easy 10/10. i already know i’d come back, not just for the food, but for how calm the place felt. mornings like this remind me how much i enjoy slowing down, especially when i’m with someone who makes even the simple days feel enough.
i loved how quiet the place was too, tucked far away from the rush of passing cars, letting the morning linger just a bit more.
i’m posting this to romanticize this course and remind myself why i keep going and that i’m doing my best, even when it doesn’t feel like it. usahay murag makalimot ko nganong naa ko diri pero when i’m in the lab, it feels different. it’s quiet. it’s grounding. it’s the only part that makes sense lately.
yeti has been my constant reminder of why i fell in love with this field in the first place. from the first day she gave birth, to the third, to the 14th. i watched her nurse and care for her chonky and makukulit na kits!! (rip my wallet, buyag na kaayo sila mangaon huhu and grabe na kaayo kalingasan). every small change feels like a little victory. she doesn’t rush, she just lives. and maybe that’s something i need to remember too. i'm making this post kay i want to remind myself nga even if the lectures make me question everything AAAAHHH (like yawa kada human exam makahinuktok nalang jud ta) ˵ˊᯅˋ˵, the lab, the animals, the quiet moments with my maldita pero himos na bebegirl, yeti, this is one of the reason why i keep going. i may not always love the subject, but i love the life i see because of it.
here’s to long lectures that i barely survived, to lab days that felt like therapy, to yeti, the abominable, who unknowingly became the softest part of my day to day life, who became my lifeline this sem. hereee's to a sucessful second parity nimo yeti!! lablab ka ni mami so much 🤍🐇

spent most of today at my table again, going back and forth between readings and trying to update my thesis proposal. it still feels a little overwhelming when i think about it too much, two studies at once, one experimental and one survey, like my brain is constantly switching gears and never really getting to rest. the experimental part has been the hardest to sit with lately, especially trying to find recent literature for something as specific as fermented rice bran combined with phytase supplementation. i didn’t expect it to be this difficult, but i ended up spending hours just searching, reading, and rereading, hoping to find something that actually fits.
time passed in that quiet, repetitive way where you don’t really notice it until you suddenly do. before i knew it, i had been at it for almost eight hours, just stuck in the same place, trying to make sense of everything. i started rewriting around 9 pm, slowly piecing things together, even when my head already felt a bit heavy. it wasn’t perfect, and i know there’s still so much to revise, polish, and probably change again later, but i kept going anyway.
by the time it got late, around 2 am i guess? i could already feel it in my body. my eyes started to ache from staring at the screen for too long, and my back followed, that dull kind of pain that builds up from sitting in the same position all day. it made everything feel slower, heavier, but i still wanted to finish at least something before stopping.
and i did, somehow. i managed to write chapter 3 for my survey and add to the related literature for my experimental study. it’s not done, not even close, but it’s something. still, there’s that quiet thought at the back of my mind that says i could’ve done more, that maybe the day slipped by too quickly.
i think this is as far as i can go today. everything’s still unfinished, kind of messy, and honestly not how i want it yet, but my brain is already too tired to keep fixing anything.
i’ll just leave it like this for now. idk why i’m even writing this when i could’ve just gone straight to sleep. maybe it’s just that after sitting for hours and hours doing readings and writing and rereading the same things, you kind of feel weird stopping suddenly. like you need to leave something behind so it doesn’t feel like the whole day just disappeared.
i guess i just wanted something to look back on later. not anything deep, just a reminder that i actually did something today, even if it felt slow and draining and not enough. i'm really tired already. my eyes feel heavy, my back hurts a bit, and my head just feels full in a way i can’t explain properly anymore. i can’t think straight at this point, so i’ll stop here.i’m going to sleep now.

went to my favorite reading spot today. a quiet little reset for my weary soul. sometimes all i really need is a quiet place and a little distance from everything
