It’d arrived by mail that day with a message attached. It’s time to enact phase two, the note had said. McCree wasn’t there ( thankfully ) so Sombra knew it was meant for her. It had Talon’s emblem on it, after all. and her knees shook as she’d opened the package that held the drug she was to use to knock her boyfriend out that night. so they could take him—kidnap him, bring him to headquarters. turn him into another Widowmaker without the blue skin.
The hacker didn’t like doing this. She’d grown so, so attached to the cowboy... It’s not like she’d meant to, though—it just happened. and Sombra regrets taking this mission because of it ( though it’s not like she had a choice ). So, with a heavy heart, Sombra waited for him to get home that night. She fixed him a drink—his favorite, of course—and laced it with what she’d been given. It was a clear, tasteless liquid meant to knock him out after a couple hours and would last long enough to move him. and it did exactly what it was supposed to do.
Sombra was sitting on the couch in their home, her legs up under her, as McCree had his head in her lap. Her body trembled as she waited, though kept it under control enough that he didn’t notice. Her fingers ran through his hair, relishing the feeling of his brown locks between them—she’d never feel it again. Tears came to Sombra’s eyes as he’d finally quieted off into sleep—after much fuss from his mind—and then she put her earpiece in that she’d kept hidden and spoke two words.
and their door suddenly burst open as Talon agents swarmed. They tied him up, hands behind his back, and then took McCree out the door. It took Sombra too long to move, tears in her eyes as she sat and sobbed for what felt like forever before she changed clothes and headed for headquarters.
Unfortunately, upon her arrival back, Sombra learned that Talon figured out she’d only joined to use their resources to better her own goal. and she knew all cards were off the table to stop this. She kicked and she screamed as they dragged her into the room McCree was in. He was still out, tied to a chair now, and she just sat and sobbed on the other side of the room with her back to the wall, face buried in her knees.
