Lotus; BTS - Bliss Abroad video shoot | Sulani

mannnn - i swear this cc set was made for lotus. i had been dreaming of an outfit like this for her and when i saw @ikari-sims new killer set i had to get lotus in it ASAP. luckily she was already in sulani for the video shoot so we just had to do a quick wardrobe change and voila, magic. ✨

i love this challenge by @storiesbyjes2g! i was actually stumped on a few of my sims but in the end i think i came up with some pretty good rides for my OCs. this was a lot of fun! if you want to participate tag yourself and do this challenge #my sims dream car challenge ​!

Rosie - 🚇

rosie is a city gworl... she doesn’t drive! in addition to her unlimited metrocard, she has an uber one membership which includes member benefits and invite-only perks for rides, deliveries, groceries, and more. she’s got big plans this year though so my girl might be getting an upgrade. she made vision boards with penny this year and added a nice photo of a black on black tesla model 3. does she want a tesla just so penny can sing “is that my bestie in a tessie?” yes.

Sage - also does not drive 🤦🏾‍♀️

what is up with them newcrest girls, huh?!?! lol. even after receiving her hefty award of heroism ($$$) from the city of strangerville and the simerican government, my girl is still content on riding shotgun. but if she DOES ever decide to start driving, she’d get a purple jeep wrangler - one that she can remove the top though.

Sami - Chevy Impala

since returning home to DSV after completing their mission in strangerville, sami went back to his ‘ol faithful. sami has no desire to get a new car, but to keep making upgrades to his baby. he always wanted a yellow chevy impala because that’s what his dad drove. so when he turned 16, his mom being the rock star that she is, got him a nearly identical car to his dad’s former vehicle.

Trenton - Dodge Hellcat

now if you want to know who did spend their strangerville money, it was trent and tanisha lol. trent sold his ‘ol handy dandy journalist van that held the crew down in stragerville and got a dodge hellcat. bright color. fast car. just his speed.

Tanisha - Mercedes AMG

tanisha ended up buying an all white, peanut butter insides, mercedes AMG. tanisha always envisioned herself as a mercedes girl, but before that, she drove a blue toyota camry, which is still back home in henford on bagley. she’ll eventually bring it to strangerville as an errands car, but for now she’s happy flossing in her benz.

Rashad - Mercedes G-wagon

rashad travels a lot for work, so he doesn’t always have his car with him. he too, is an uber one member. he bought rosie her first membership back when they were a couple. while he’s living back home in DSV he drives his matte black g-wagon. for his 30th birthday (no time soon) he’s thinking about staying in the mercedes family and getting a maybach.

Ashley - Mercedes G-wagon

ashley literally only got a g-wagon because she liked rashad’s. she chose all white because she prefers neutrals and nudes, but the salesman convinced her to get a red leather interior and she actually likes it. it makes her feel like a “boss”.

Lotus - Kia Soul

lotus is still pushing her kia soul that she’s had since graduating high school. she has her eyes set on a shiny, black range rover. but until those music royalties start pouring in (or a certain someone buys it) she’ll be pushing the soul.

Dakotah - Van

and my newest baby to the story, kotahhhh. her parents are hippies, so, naturally she drives a van. she enjoys long walks on the beach, and long drives down the west coast (kotah is from evergreen harbor, which for my story is similar to northern california (let’s say sacramento and oakland had a baby - that’s evergreen habor - but for the sake of my story it’s about a two hour drive to DSV with no traffic) anyway... she enjoys long drives down the west coast in her van. so yes, it has a bed.

13. from basic planning to a finished post, how long does that take you?

an eternity. LMAO, hmmm... see, i'm always getting ideas, jotting them down in notion, scanning for poses, saving those in notion, and just daydreaming about my oc's lol. so i have no idea. i never really sit with a plan to come up with an idea, write it out, go in-game, and then edit all in one sitting. it's a lingering process that's ongoing, but in intervals.

but if i had to estimate a time if i have a loose script already written then getting in-game and doing what needs to be done, and then editing probably takes me 2-ish hours or a little less for one post?? i try to batch create multiple posts, so ultimately it’s a few hours, maybe 3-4. if my scene is planned i can get the shots pretty quickly. the longest part is narrowing down and choosing the photos to use.

20. choose your favorite shot from your story so far

iiii can't decide. i have 3.. well 4.

the green in this one/two was just lovely. that lava lamp really did its thing. and i thought the mirror shot was clever lmao!!!

31. drop some random trivia about your story

oooh random trivia. okay! not sure if this is actually trivia or just little nuggets i don't really share. 😂

- sage's shot was actually inspired by this build from whimsyalien. i saw the build and instantly was like, yes, sage is going to live here, this bus was made for her.

- my original plan for the story was for sage to get pregnant and then move to henford on bagley and have a farm like kelis. BUT, the watcher had other plans.

- what became a huge part of the story that originally was never a thing was sami's dad. i was trying to come up with a backstory for his parents and my original plan was for his father to have been killed many years ago, but i said nahhh let's shake some stuff up lol. oh, and ashley was originally supposed to be sami’s cousin but i said mmmm nahhh, let's REALLY shake some stuff up and make them siblings lol.

- quiet, sensitive, passionate

2. how did you choose the name of your story?

sage is a photographer, and in her debut story/lp (rosie in the city) it was all about her cousin, rosie. for her spin-off it was sage's turn to shine. sooo, combining photography with this being sage's chance to be the main character = sage's shot!

3. how do you choose your characters’ names?

don't fight me but the randomizer is my frienddddd and why i always end up with paired sims with the same letter name. 😂 sometimes though, i just feel it and know what name to give them. so for sage, after i made her, i was texting a friend like, what do you think her name should be? and she said "ooh she looks like a sage" and i said "WOW, why was i thinking the same thing?" so some sims like sage are actually special, but not many lmao.

4. how did you choose the name of your story?

i answered this one here. but i left a part out so i'm glad you asked!! i haven't explicity shared the new name for "sage's shot" when it continues hopefully very soon, but that name is: LAYERED.

i chose this name because the characters are all intertwined in some way, their stories and lives are very layered and complex. layered, in all caps, just seemed to fit the direction that the story is headed. i should've named it hot mess, but that's neither here nor there.

9. what about your story are you looking to improve on?

character development!

in sage's shot i got lost in my comfort zone, especially with fashion/styling (i suck at it, help), so i strayed away from the character's true style, mostly sami. tanisha was also a struggle, she's a southern belle, with an elegant, sexy, and sleek look, and i just cannot for the life of me choose an outfit that really captures that essence. i really, really, REALLY need help in that department.

i also want to improve on character dialect and voice. i want to be able to write a line and upon reading it you just know which character said it. i'm trying to work on these things before i officially launch LAYERED but i know it's a slow work in progress.

16. what about the process do you enjoy?

i really love seeing a scene come together. the finished product is pretty rewarding, especially when it's something that i wasn't too sure i would be able to pull off. so far, everything i've envisioned has worked out so that's been such a relief. but this part of the process is also what keeps me from setting up a scene/post (aka procrastinating) bc i'm always nervous that it isn't going to come together.

17. what about the process do you hate?

aw man, i hate looking for poses. well, i don't hate it, sometimes i can get lost in it and a bit carried away. sometimes i'll search for days with no luck on exactly what i'm looking for. so for a lot of my story i use as many gameplay animations that i can, but sometimes a pose just helps the story come across better. if i had the time to create poses i most certainly would. but when i DO find poses that are perfect it's like a holiday.

19. choose a song that reminds you of (insert character here)

i meant to do that OC playlist challenge that was floating around a few months ago and never got around to designing the posts. i picked the songs, so here it goes for everyone, with honorable mentions for todd and rosie from my LP rosie in the city because i had songs that were perfect for them too so i had to include them lol.

a crab. he thinks he’d be a lion.

10. What do they fantasize about?

how it would feel to be "truly" loved, supported, and respected. he longs to find a sense of belonging in a world that he feels rejected him almost entirely from his childhood onward.

he was "the kid whose dad went missing" and no one really knew what to say to him... so they didn't say much. he's always felt like a bit of an outcast, and then to top things off he's got poor follow-through so people tend to doubt him a lot, even his own family; they don't mean any harm by it, but it still hurts.

15. How would they describe themselves?

inquisitive; homebody; considerate; confident

16. How would others describe them?

he’s an “undercover” genius, probably the smartest sim i’ve ever met but he never makes you feel dumb or less than, someway somehow he just knows about many things; quick learner; fickle; nurturing; passive aggressive; but he has a good heart

21. What’s one secret of theirs that could potentially ruin a relationship they have?

he got expelled for throwing a kid through the library glass/wall during a fight in high school, which is why he had to start going to school in strangerville. but sami was bad af growing up, so that’s no secret.

and i’m still not sure that this would necessarily ruin any of his relationships, but him and lotus have a tape. and i’m not talking about a mixtape. luckily the laptop they recorded it on broke a few years ago…

26. What’s one topic they could never get tired of researching or learning about?

sami loves to read in general, but, cannabis is something he finds extremely fascinating to research/learn about.

34. Do they work to live or live to work?

work to live.

35. Do/did they want children?

yes, but not anytime soon.

50. Do they have any insecurities?

insecure is sami’s middle name. he’s never felt good enough for his ex, lotus, or in comparison to his younger “perfect” sister, ashley. his insecurities have held him back from accomplishing a lot because he never believes in himself long enough to stick it through. solving the strangerville mystery was a really big goal that he didn’t think he’d complete, so now that he has it’ll be interesting to see what this does for his confidence.
