Elderly men target of molester
By SUSAN L. MORRISON | OF THE TIMES HERALD STAFF | March 8, 1991
At first he thought it was a neighbor.
Then he thought it was a joke.
And before it was over, the 65-year-old man reached his final conclusion: “This guy is crazy.”
The North Dallas resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity on Monday, was the latest victim of an assailant who approaches older men — usually in the alleys behind their homes — grabs their genitals and makes lewd suggestions. Dallas police said the molester, who sometimes beats his victims with his fists if they resist, has struck about 20 times in the past year in an area bounded by Campbell Road, Central Expressway, LBJ Freeway and Hillcrest Road. [The molester] did inflict some injury on two or three people Cpl. B.F. Dagelewicz, a patrol officer for the North Central Division of the Dallas Police Department. “We don’t know for sure, but it could be that he’s only preying on elderly men because he thinks he can overpower them. I don’t know. It’s definitely a weird deal.” The assailant is described as a clean-cut Hispanic or Middle Eastern man with no accent who strikes after dark.
He is about 20 years old, stands about 6 feet tall and weighs about 160 pounds. The man who was assaulted Monday said he was in the alley behind his house about 8 p.m. when a young man walked up behind him. “I just thought it was my neighbor, so I kept on doing what I was doing,” the victim said. “Then by the time he grabbed my arm, I didn’t know what was going on. I thought maybe someone was playing a joke on me.
“Then he grabbed for my crotch and made mention of my private parts and said he wanted to see what they looked like. Then I told him I’d give him about two seconds before I waylaid him.” The assailant then fled on foot “about the time I drove my arm back,” the victim said. “He just took off, which was lucky for him. It shocked me so damn much.”
Besides the people who have been beaten by the man, the officer said other men have suffered minor injuries when they try to resist.
“l don’t think he grabs them all that hard,” Dagelewicz said. “But they’re trying to get away, so I’m sure that doesn't help.”
Doesn't matter which disaster strikes ... they're all terrible
I did not snap this picture. Someone else did. It reveals a tornado that ripped through Dallas in the dark of night Sunday.
No one died in this event. The twister did do a considerable amount of damage as it tore through the northern and eastern parts of the city. My wife and I were hunkered down in our house in Princeton, about 30 or so miles north of where this horror unfolded; our son and his…
