Fingers had begun to fidget with the stockier male’s overcoat, shifting it further closed, while ensuring the buttons were all done up - guiding his hands upward toward the bow that accented the very top of his attire. Palms pressed down against each side of the bow, before his right hand took hold of Lefou’s chin, forcing his eyes to link with his own, words spoken through a stern and demanding tone.

“When I say look at me. . . I mean it. Now. . . I’ll ask one more time, are you going to help me get the girl, or are you going to cower away and hide here - drinking away your fear?”

Consciousness was a tenuous thing as Josefin was hauled into the medical tent.  The world swam in and out of focus around her as she was laid on one of the tables that had been set up for the doctor to do his work at, hands pressed tight to the wound in her side.  Despite the pain, she was sure that it wasn’t more than a deep graze; the problem was that it was high enough on her torso that she would need to remove her top to be treated.  And at that point, it would all be over.  She would be discharged and sent home, or worse to an asylum in Paris, and then who would be there to watch Gaston’s back and make sure that Fabien didn’t get into too much trouble?  It wouldn’t be her, that was for sure.
