"Woulda believe me if I said this was a bully?" It was technically the truth. Well, most of the people he went up against were bullies. He wouldn't go up against someone who wasn't a bully, not unless there was a compelling reason to. And sure, him saying it was a bully implied it was some high school drama thing - which he was absolutely too old for. But it was better than saying some guy with lions for pets had been the reason his back looked like it had just gone through some medieval penance. "Yeah.." He laughed, waving a hand at the stranger. "I'm okay. Really, I am. Just gotta get past the - initial, uh, the initial ouch."

they were so far out of their depths with the fight they had found themselves in. their skill and healing ability could only get them so far, but that relied on being able to get close to them, which seemed almost impossible with the powers they wielded. noticed a split second too late, a tanker of fuel exploded and in an attempt to protect themselves, he'd ducked beneath his cloak in hopes it'd at least shield him a little from the fire that'd soon envelope them.

however the blistering heat never came.

hesitantly, the cloak was lowered and eyes laid on the back of the sorceress, fire bending around an invisible force, shielding the two from the blaze. huh. if he had known she wielded such power, he'd have asked her to use it sooner. but she was using it now and he was grateful for that. rising back to his feet as the fire died down, he stepped closer to the female. ❝ you didn't think to tell me earlier you had powers? ❞ he'd been under the assumption she hadn't. but that wasn't important right now. ❝ you gonna help deal with him? ❞ head nodded towards the opponent ; he'd appreciate the help.

CATALYST OF CHANGE , novelty was welcome in his life with open arms . Differently from other people , Dick Grayson was excited by the unknown , the idea of a mysterious chapter waiting to be written by him , allowing him to reborn his self idea again . 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐘𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 , the bird had already found a nest in Cloisters museum , yet as he became the new curator and closed the building for improvements , a daylight activity was needed to not only fulfill the persona he created for himself , but to build a sense of life behind the mask .

Projecting what once he was known for , 𝒂𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒕 claps hands together , white with powder , after he announces the end of his class to the children . This building sheltered many services and lacked teachers , being born in a circus tent granted him a chance to help in what they needed .

Glancing at the door , he notices a woman walking against the flow of kids . Many got lost in this labyrinth of floors . ❝  hello . may i help you ? i'm richard , the trapeze teacher ❞

the memories of confinement are crushing / if he thinks about it for too long, rocket feels as if he can't breathe, let alone think or even begin to process any of the accompanying emotions. it's been sixteen years since halfworld, && even when the world is harsh && cruel, he takes comfort in knowing that where there is sky, there is FREEDOM.

that is forever.

but, he supposes, not everyone understands what it's like to feel that absolute release. i'm lucky, rocket finds himself thinking ; what a strange thing to say.

the odd look he gives @lckidottir is less judgmental, though it lacks real sympathy. he's never liked pity from other people, he's not about to start doling it out himself.

"well, maybe earth's just too small," he quips, arms folded. "i mean. you've got your whole... deal going on. why stay there? why not, i dunno. be out here. no one gives a shit what you do. trust me, i know."

her gentle words break through the haze of a dissociation and tugs him back to the present, blinking with a small frown as his mind tries to grasp at what she'd said and repeat it until he finally understood what she was saying. hot chocolate. that didn't sound like something he wanted. ' i'd love a hot chocolate. ' those words interrupt his thought and he exhales a heavy sigh. of course steven would want a hot chocolate. ❝ sure. why not. ❞ he accepts, though he'll let steven have this one.

Johnny had deemed it his personal mission to find out why his heat was having such an effect on Tess. As someone who strived for perfection when it came to the control of his powers, it had disturbed him, to say the least. Maybe he was so invested because he just needed to know it wasn't him.

In actuality though, the problem had been passed along to Reed, who had agreed that there had to be more to this whole situation, so being ever the scientist, tests were run — bloodtests, body scans, power readings — the works. Johnny knew from experience how draining it could all be, not to mention totally boring. So while Reed was tapping away at multiple screens doing... whatever he does, Johnny's attention was drawn back to Tess.

“  i’ll make coffee—don’t go anywhere.  ”

He dashed out of the lab, returned promptly with three mugs clasped between two hands. One for Reed, one for Tess, and one for himself. "Did you wanna' step out for a bit?" He asked her as he placed Reed's mug down on the counter. "I was thinking the rooftop, maybe? Get some fresh air?"

"Does anyone else feel the urge to vomit?" He coughs, pushing himself to his hands and knees, squinting through the smokey debris filling the air. Here he's been, minding his own business, when the street-facing windows of the coffee shop he'd just exited has seemed to inhale before the entire shop front has exploded outward, quick as anything, and he's had just long enough to think how much like that moment before a tsunami rushes back in to shore it is before he's found himself flattened to the sidewalk. It's instinct, that has him reaching for the indistinct figure next to him on the sidewalk, and he thinks he grabs an ankle. "Hey, are you okay? i could’ve turned him into stone .  or a dog .  or a chair . Truthfully, Wanda could’ve and would’ve, but at Tess’ insistence, Wanda didn’t turn the security guard into any of that. She instead chose to cause the man to faint, which she helped set him on the floor gently. “Don’t worry he wouldn’t remember us when he wakes up, if it is any consolation, I influenced him to believe he fainted because his blood sugar was low.”

Wanda stepped over the unconscious man, tilted her head slightly to cue Tess to follow Wanda. She had extended her arm out for Tess to take Wanda's hand, to assist the other woman step over the man without losing her balance. The two women, admittedly, had to break into the National History Museum, they were looking to see if the archives had an ancient Norse artifact.
