Val’s directive to John had been clear, recruit San-Mystik, a supposed Korean super soldier, into Val’s services by any means necessary. John wasn’t blind to what she was allowing in this “any means necessary” but he thought it seemed excessive. And to be honest, he wonders why she didn’t send Belova after this guy. The former Widow seemed much more suited to the subtleties of espionage and persuasion than John would ever be. Surely even in Korea, John would be recognized. Or maybe Val was counting on that as intimidation? Any of the intricacies of spy planning kind of goes over his head. John is a soldier, not a spy. He admits, he’s a blunt weapon. Perhaps he should ask more questions, but he finds the answers he gets often give him more confusion and headaches than he feels like putting up. He never seems to get any straight answers.
Information puts his recruitment target at a local bar. He arrives in civilian clothing and scans the place before finding the man he was looking for. Thankfully everyone seems too caught up in their own things to pay attention or give him any recognition, so he moves through the crowd to sit down at empty seat at the counter next to San. “Interesting place for a super soldier to hang out...”
Blunt and to the point. John figured there was no point of giving small talk. He was never that good at it anyways.
