@lotors-saltwife​ considered that option as well, but the colony thing lies in the past while lotor's rift gate project started around the time he became emperor, didn't it?

I thought the colony thing was ongoing since they still found all those Matrix-ed Alteans... and since the quintessence shipment discoveries were recent. I have no idea when he would have started the rift gate. :/ But maybe he had other similar projects before it that were unsuccessful.

I saw that post too. Accusing staff of queerbaiting because the show doesn't revolve around romance, but when a pairing that isn't Lance x youknowwho gets a moment it's suddenly "forced". We're finally getting a show with little romance and suddenly everyone is complaining about the lack of canon shippy stuff. The irony.

If Keith and Shiro became canon, it’d be hell on earth anyway even IF it put an end to the “”queer baiting””. Queer baiting in the first place is when you tease a gay relationship with straight characters to keep LGBT people watching without pissing off the homophobic viewers with an actual gay romance. I highly doubt that’s something Voltron’s going to be doing any time soon.

But yeah, I like Voltron as it is. I’d be happy if no ship became canon the entire time. IMO I’d rather have a show with a strong plot than a million romantic subplots any day.
