For the OC ask meme, how abouuuuuut: 14, 19, 24, 34, 44, and 55 for Joseph? (or just the ones you're most interested in if that's too many!) (@leafdrake-haven) :D
Thank you for the ask! Sorry for the long post and the delay, but I really wanted to answer all of these!
14. Can they cook? Can they bake?
Can Joseph cook? Technically. He can follow simple recipes or prepare simple dishes, however, he's not good at it, and he certainly can't do anything fancy. He's the type that would probably burn a grilled cheese. After years of exploration, he can cook meat on a stick over a fire, but don't ask him to cook your dinner, unless you like the taste of charcoal. The same probably applies to baking, unless they sell boxed cakes or something in the multiverse.
19. Hobbies
Joseph loves to explore and to read. When wanting to relax, he loves to open up a book, be it a fantasy story of some kind or a book on the founding of the Guilds of Ravnica, and just get absorbed in it. Maybe sitting next to a fire, or drinking some tea. When out and about, however, he loves delving into old ruins, searching for mystery or ancient artifacts, or even just going into town on some new plane and seeing what life there is like. He's rather curious at heart, so things that play on that aspect of himself he loves doing.
24. Fave Season
Probably depends on the plane, but if we're going by standard Earth type seasons, Joseph likes autumn the best. The cool air and browning leaves remind him of his home on Innistrad, back when he was a child. It seems some planes celebrate festivals of harvest, or sometimes the dead, around this time as well, and he's always one to partake in festivities, so long as he's not wore out or something. Aside from nostalgia and fun, the cool weather makes it easier for him to curl up with a good book and sip some tea.
34. What’s their room look like right now?
I'm not entirely convinced Joseph has a room at the moment, seeing as he left the Azorius guild on Ravnica, thus leaving the apartment they allowed him to keep. While on Innistrad, he tends to stay at his childhood home, but it's in a state of ruin and otherwise disrepair, so he really just stays there to stay out of the elements, without any real plan to fix it back up. He might have a chest or something where he stores things there, but that's about it.
That said, when he had a room on Ravnica, he kept it tidy, with several bookshelves of various works he's collected over the years, and maybe a chest full of random artifacts or things he's found. He tends to keep his rooms tidy, but also as a dumping ground for stuff he collects. He's sort of like a PC in an RPG, using their home as a glorified storage chest. However, the exception would be his desk, and maybe any tables he has. He tends to pull out books or research materials and forget to put them away, or says he'll do so later and just not. He's sort of bad about that. One may find gathering dishes on his desk as well.
44. What’s their pokemon team? Try to pick all 6.
Oh geeze, this is a hard one. I'll make a list of each, and give a brief description why.
Cubone or Marowak – The two share a lot in common, specifically the loss of family, and carrying on their legacy through weapons.
Lycanroc – A Pokémon seemingly inspired by werewolves, so why not. I imagine he'd prefer the Midday or Dusk forms, though the Midnight form might be more fitting.
Chesnaut – Honestly for no other reason than his style. I imagine Joseph would probably pick this guy as his starter if he had the chance.
Gallade – Kind of similar to Chesnaut, in that it fits his style, perhaps more so, but also because the theme of him being a somewhat magical warrior that uses blades. That's definitely Joseph.
Aegislash – Speaking of blades, this Pokémon makes for a pretty cool parallel to his sword. I'd like to think, if Joseph existed in the Pokémon world, that perhaps this sword filled the same roll, perhaps being a family heirloom-esque Pokémon, being passed down from parent to child.
Latias – If we have an analogue for his sword, why not one for Sophia, his trusted partner. Plus, I like the idea of him having at least one, singular legendary Pokémon, and this would be that one. I think she makes a good analogue for Sophia, being psychic type, with Sophia's ability to sense emotions and such, and her knack for flying Joseph around and stuff. If we aren’t allowing legendaries, I’d say a runner up would be Pidgeot, honestly. I love Pidgeot, and she’d be big enough to carry Joseph around with relative ease.
55. What’s your character’s core trait? What’s their best trait? What’s their worst trait? What happens when these all interact with each other?
I've said this before, but maybe not here. The main idea I always had with Joseph is that, well, he's human, and I think that defines his core trait quite well. He's open minded, but stubborn, he's curious, but afraid. He's a bundle of interests and fears, with a chief desire to do good, but always feeling like he's running away from his true problems. He's made mistakes, and he always will.
I think his best trait is, as mentioned, his desire to do good. Despite the fact he often feels like he's not good enough, and this theme of him running away from conflicts in his life that he should be staying for, he tries so hard to help others. A big part of his life was fighting on Innistrad, and though he did it as a means of supporting himself, his main drive was to prevent the kind of misfortunes that befell himself and his family. He protects the innocent, and would happily pick up a job without promise of coin if it meant doing so. It was his main reason for joining the Azorius on Ravnica, even when he was pressured into doing so, knowing full well he had the option of just leaving. He wanted to enforce the law and help others.
His worst trait? Probably a mix between his stubbornness and self-deprecation, as both kind of go hand in hand. He can be quite bullheaded, often looking at things from his point of view, and having issues understanding where others might come from. He tries really hard, and most of the time he's fine, but sometimes he'll just find a topic he has a hard time budging on. One thing, for instance, being the fact he runs from his problems. Outwardly, he claims he fights to protect others, which is true, but he's also running from his problems by doing so. He thinks if he keeps fighting, that somehow makes up for the mistakes he did previously. He then ignores said mistakes. He left Bant early on in his career as a planeswalker, leaving it to its fate and the Conflux, and though he regrets it, he refused to return in full until very recently, feeling he failed them. Feeling returning would only make things worse, so why not fight elsewhere. Not all of this makes sense to me, nor even to himself, but that's kind of what he's like. That's how this works in his head.
