Hi Diary!!

This is my family! I am the one in the front, then on the left is my mommy Salem holding Winter, then mommy Leal holding Saylor and my daddy. Daddy never smiles much. Mommy Salem already has a big belly and she goes to Doc North a lot. This always makes mommy Leal sad because she likes to go to Doc North but she has to stay at home when Mommy Salem goes. I can’t wait till Saylor is bigger and can play games with me. Daddy says someday there will be a school where I get to go each day to learn. Now I have to sit with Mommy Leal in the kitchen and practice writing and adding. Daddy says learning is stupid, I need to learn to fish and build stuff instead, and stop drawing. He says that makes me a girl but Mommy Leal doesn’t agree. I like learning. They argue a lot and then Mommy Salem just goes outside because she doesn’t like it. I help her in the garden so I don’t have to hear them shout.

That is it for now! I am going to go with Mommy Salem to Doc North :)

As I run story progression, Leal has gotten a major crush on Doc North and she always gets sad when she sees the Doc kissing Briar :P

Salem watched Leal put down the baby in the crib and sighed. Dutch would soon need a children’s bed and by the looks of things, they would be needing more space. She rubbed her small bump absently. She’d gone to see the Doc and Briar today, and was surprised when Briar asked her if after the baby came, she would like something to keep her from falling pregnant again. Salem’s reply had been “are you hiding a stock of condoms in here?”. But the woman had just laughed and informed her that there were plant mixtures that could do the same, in addition to measuring her temperature. She couldn’t say it wasn’t tempting, and she was sure Leal was not done with only one. She’d taken more to motherhood than she thought, but unlike Leal who seemed to skip through pregnancy, she spent most of her first trimester hanging over the toilet seat and the rest with heart burn and a back that wanted to kill her. Man did she miss the days of chilling out in front of the TV, eating popcorn and not having any worries on a Sunday. Nobody warned her that island life would be this exhausting.

A gorgeous blonde bustled into the room. “Hey Doc, I found some really nice flowers for the table and by the window, I....oh! A guest!” Leal gave her a small smile. “This is Leal, little one. She just wanted me to check up on her baby.” The woman grinned big and glided over gracefully. “Another baby! I just love the little ones. I’m Blair and the midwife here I guess.” Leal was about to stick her hand out when the other woman enveloped her in a hug. As she pulled back she let her hands settle on Leal’s tiny bump and grinned again. “How far are you along?” “I am not sure, I think three to four months.” The woman nodded sagely. “Why don’t you let Doc take a look and when you are done we can have a cup of tea. That way we can get to know each other and I think it is going to be a little lonely here for me if we don’t.” She smiled up at her husband, who nodded his head while also shaking it ruefully. The love was evident in his eyes, even if he did find his wife’s friendly nature amusing. “Don’t say no or she will just keep asking until you say yes.” Leal smiled. “Then yes, I would very much like that.” “Good.” Blair brushed past her husband, leaning up to give him a kiss before heading into the kitchen. Doc put his hand on Leal’s lower back and pointed towards the hallway. “This way please.”

Leal Jaspers

A shy kindergarten teacher, Leal grew up in a home with a drunk father, a submissive mother and a relatively stupid brother. All three spent most of their time ignoring her, only talking to her if they needed her for something. However, she is very family orientated and as such, let her brother stay with her when he came back into her life a few months ago. She knew he was up to no good, but he promised he was trying to get his life back on track. She finds it easier to deal with children than adults, has a hard time starting up a conversation and making friends. As such, she was a hermit who didn’t do much in the way of social activities and spent most of her time reading, cooking for herself, or going on long walks. She very much always wanted a child of her own, but the few dates she did go on were either people who were pissed she didn’t put out on the first date, people just as shy as her so that it was a constant awkward silence, or men who only talked about themselves. She gave up a while ago and was content to only teach other people’s children.

The baby had stopped crying once she changed him out of his soiled clothes and into the fresh ones she had found by the bed. He seemed relatively content in her arms and she breathed it the smell of baby and let it relax her. “Guess you’re awake.” She jerked, turned around to see a formidable guy leaning against the door jam. His face seemed to be a permanent frown. He looked at his watch. “You good? You were out pretty long.” She nodded meekly but didn’t speak. He raised an eyebrow in question. She started to sweat, unsure of what to do or say. He walked in and sat down in a chair, still watching her.

The door slammed open again and a darker woman walked in. “I SWEAR, if that damn bird picks out the damn seeds from my garden again I don’t care how many bullets you have left, I am shooting it!” Suddenly she seemed to have caught sight of Leal and blinked. “Huh, where did you find this one?” The guy shrugged. “By the beach.” “Okay, well at least she seems to be good with kids as, by the way, there is gunna be another one.” The guy didn’t even blink. “You good with sharing?” Leal did blink. Sharing? Her confusion must have been evident as the woman spoke again after muttering about another mute. “Sharing, as in, the same guy. See, there is only Preacher, Dutch and me on this island....” She pointed at the guy and then the baby as she spoke “...so that means, we have to share him. Which, frankly, I don’t mind. As long as you do the cooking and look after the babies I am fine with that.” The guy grinned, seemingly quite happy with this plan. “Could do with a proper meal, you got a name Red?” She swallowed hard. It suddenly became clear to her where she had landed. Her brother had talked about not wanting to go to jail because he may become part of a program. Seems she had landed in one.
