On my last Leander post, I had a very interesting comment and my answer was getting so long I decided a post would be most digestible and it's more about Leander's route outcome which I've been itching to talk about more extensively. So here's the comment left by @bulletmedic !
I agree with this take, well mostly the first part. MC reacts very differently to Leander than the other 4. As I said in my previous post, they very firmly don't want to show or talk about their curse, yet look at them tell Leander anyways. Something is off and it's not bad writing, it was put there deliberatly.
As for the route itself, tldr : yes and no. I think Leander could fall in love with MC no matter what up a certain point in the story or that it depends on certain choices we make.

Leander, Leander, Leander. Quite the man. I thought about his route structure and outcome so mainy times. As I said above, I have 2 ideas on how the route could go. Again I could be completely wrong but I'm not here to be right just give my 2 cents (and because I love talking about him dqojdqpojzdqzpoidjfqz).
First I want to talk a bit about Leander's goal. In v2.0, it's been made more clear that Leander wants MC's powers for himself, is it by keeping them alive or not. So the "basement wife" scenario wouldn't be impossible, especially if he falls for MC but his obsession around them and their power mix and twist into something more sinister. I don't think Leander is a yandere, or not one in the strict sense of the term but rather borders on the idea in a more complex way justified by the narative and his writing (not saying it's good, just saying that if written well and given logic explenation that could turn out better than just a plain classic yandere trope).
Now, the first posibility : he falls in love anyways but the ending we get depends on choices we make. My take is Leander will either chose his goal/plan or MC. Or try to stop the plan put in motion to save them and either fail or succeed. For the first one, I'd say if MC is too distant Leander won't hesitate too much to sacrifce them for his bigger goal and agenda. He'd hate it, but he needs to do what he needs to do. The second scenario works well with the first one and could be another bad end branching if he decides to save MC. Here I think if MC trusted him enough, he could succeed or something like that.
Then the other posibility : Oh that one would be absolute cinema. Imagine thinking Leander is falling for MC, that you made the right choices only for him to reveal he was lying this whole time and you got trapped. Oh the betrayal. Oh I would get my life if that's the case. The drama of it all. That could mean we need to get the right balance between being distant enough to survive and avoid an early bad ending but not to get a full bad ending either. Just like Leander, we need to play our cards right and chose when to open up and warm up to him in the right moments. Being receptive to his fake charms would get us in danger, while being receptive to a more authentic heart to heart conversation would get us more high in his esteem. Higher than a mere pawn at least.
He is such a complicated character in my eyes, he craves authenticity and a true bond even just friendship, but can't afford it. He can't let a single weakness settle in, and still he feels lonely to the point he tries to fill that void by being liked by everyone (tho he does so for his plan not just out of loneliness). Only to remember a friend to everyone is a friend to no one. Idk what his deal his I need to beat him to death

I like to reference this chart when determining MBTI. I find it very concise and better than taking the test with a character in mind, though I recognize it isn’t a very thorough analysis (more on that later :)) *listed characteristics are directly quoted from here until stated otherwise
As of May 14, 2026 the pdb (personality database) lists Leander as an ENFJ.
I think Leander tries to project himself as ENFJ. I spent some time trying to figure if he prefers to be seen as more flexible (P) than settled (J), but it does seem that he manifest more with EXXJ types after comparison. ex)
ENFJ: Caring, enthusiastic, idealistic, organized, diplomatic, responsible. Skilled communicators who value connection with people.
vs my previous contender; ENFP: enthusiastic, creative, spontaneous, optimistic, supportive, playful. Value inspiration, enjoy starting new projects, see potential in others.
But that seemed too surface level, so I tried to consider him having an 'external' and 'internal' personality (my Gemini king); in order of complexity;
#1 Extroverted vs Introverted: Fundamentally he is extroverted, he's just getting burnt out imo.
#2 Judging vs Perceiving: I could see him either way on this one, but perceivers close to his personality type seem to lean way more creative, easygoing, enthusiastic, free-spirited, and sensitive than than I think would fit Leander.
#3/4 Sensing vs iNtuition & Thinking vs Feeling
I really saw him as intuition over sensing due to his ambition, but he is defined as ‘pragmatic’ (in the backer update #35) which implies sensing over intuition, but I’ve still listed them for your refrence.
ENTJ: Strategic, logical, efficient, outgoing, ambitious, independent. Effective organizers of people and long-range planners.
ENFJ: Caring, enthusiastic, idealistic, organized, diplomatic, responsible. Skilled communicators who value connection with people. (his focus on community seems to be a little more of a tool then exactly a core value imo)
ESFJ: friendly, outgoing, reliable, conscientious, organized, practical. Seek to be helpful and please others, enjoys being active and productive
ESTJ: Efficient, outgoing, analytical, systematic, dependable, realistic. Like to run the show and get things done in an orderly fashion.
T vs F; I wanted to lean towards ‘thinking’ due to his (cannonly rumored) indifferent/impersonal side, but his core values seemed to resonate more with feeling. *hint, pleasing other people/ hero complex ;)
At this point, I started to doubt my idea of categorizing him by external v internal, so here are some comparisons from the holy grail, 16personalitytypes.com
'External'; ENFJ, Protagonist:
Some defining characteristics; serve a greater purpose, born leaders, advocate for their values, care too much for others
Some defining characteristics; ‘bedrock’ of the community, devoted to close bonds, altruist
+Strong practical skills, strong sense of duty, very loyal, sensitive and warm, good at connecting with others
-Worried about their social status, inflexible, vulnerable to criticism, often too needy, too selfless
I still stand on my idea of his social, projected personality being ENFJ and his internal, true self being ESFJ. ENFJ's have this level of optimism that doesn't seem genuine to Leander.
*All of the above traits for ESFJ and this post in general could very well be accurate, but it's difficult to define him without the full game release.

TLDR: My initial impression of him was; he projects as ENFP but is internally ENTJ. But after digging into it, he seemed externally ENFJ while being ESFJ internally. This post is longer than usual, so I recommend reading more on ESFJs, especially the romantic relationships & friendships categories.

Okay, I have thoughts about Leander and need to express them.
Now, I could very well end up being wrong and might be missing some things that make everyone else really suspicious of him, but I really don't think he's a bad person completely masquerading as a hero and trying to manipulate people. I do think his whole heroic persona might be somewhat performative, but I think he genuinely wants to help people and be seen as a good person. He at the very least strikes me as a people-pleaser.
I think the problem might lie in him over-extending himself and neglecting his own wants and needs (like sleep, if the dark circles under his eyes are anything to go by). Like keeping up a protection spell just so a certain cursed newcomer can hold his hand/feel him up whenever they want (magic has to take some kind of toll on the user). Or promising to cure said newcomer by claiming to be able to do the work of an entire organization on his own (we don't know what the Senobium's deal is, yes, but they have to have a decent amount of power to have the reputation they do).
There's also the little things, like Leander not complaining about Vere ordering expensive champagne even though the price does seem to concern him. The way he physically jumped in to diffuse the tension. How, if you take him up on the drink, he picks what sounds like the most palatable drink that also introduces you to more of Eridias' local culture. He won't even give us his opinion of the others without asking for ours first, as if he doesn't want to risk disagreeing with us.
He also just doesn't seem to make any decisions for himself in general. The people at the bar ask him to to perform, so he does. Kuras said Leander could help us, so he says he will. The Bloodhounds' reaction to us mentioning the Senobium makes us uncomfortable, so he talks them down; but also we made them uncomfortable, so he moves our conversation outside. We never see him order a specific drink for himself independently: when we first meet him, he just asks the bartender to surprise him, and during his section towards the end, he just orders whatever you order (when they all gather at the bar, we don't get an idea of what drink he ordered or how, but I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happened). Even when he grabs our wrist the first time we touch, I think he does it more to reassure us than out of any desire to touch us more (and I mean that even if you hesitate, because at that point you're like 90% of the way there and he wants you to know he can help. His whole freakout, as I've seen others point out, is probably just due to a stronger than expected reaction from our curse).
As for how that might tie in to what makes him monstrous, I think that might come down to what lengths he's willing to go to in trying to help people. Maybe he's willing to kill for other people, maybe he dabbles in some dark magic like necromancy or has some sort of magic patron he's made a deal with a la dnd warlock pacts, or maybe it's something more self-sacrificial and he's willing to risk his life or sell his soul.
Regarding his relationship with the MC, I do think he could get obsessive over them, but I don't think it would be in the stereotypical yandere fashion. Considering how submissive he acts (and how Ais describes him to be), I think Leander would rather be possessed by the MC than possess MC himself.
I don't know if this makes sense. I just think Touchstarved is doing a lot of interesting and nuanced things, and Leander just being a deceptive yandere feels too easy (no offense to the people making those headcanons, though. love a yandere headcanon. i just like to overthink things).
Since the game warned of dismemberment… do you think one of the LIs will lose a limb at some point?
Like my money is on Ais cuz by the looks of it, his arm is connected to the sea spring so… if you cut that off along with some ritual that completely cuts ties with it… Ais is without an arm but is free, finally.
And we could also go other avenues? Like Leander losing his other arm completely (which is ironically opposite of Ais’s arm) maybe whatever happened there will finally finish the job in his route.
Idk about the others and what they’d lose (or get scars from but 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️)
Ok so when I said the "mask and all" makes sense for the Abbess is actually Leander's mom theory
Leander likes masquarades and some people on a fan server I'm in suggested he does actually because it reminds him of his mom (who he may have not seen much growing up)
Other than that I just think the family drama will be more juicy if his mom is the Abbess and listen we all agree he got mommy issues and I think at least one of his parents is at least affiliated with the Senobium or works there. It would also make his dislike of the Senobium way more personal. On the theme of mommy issues, Leander would be a foil of Alchemist MC because they got some too (Cause of mother figures both treating them badly and being associated with the Senobium)
I'll include more details when I'll post my Leander analysis anyways idk it makes sense to me
I won't be disappointed if I'm wrong, again I'll be fine with whatever the devs come up with in the end I trust their writting and storytelling abilities uwu
