Holy shit this show !!!! it made me cry !!! i don't remember the last time a show made me cry 😭😭 more details:
The Good
Great characterisation for day and night!! - the characters felt consistent throughout the show and their actions and motivations for the most part made sense with the narrative. Like for as much as Night pissed me off half the time, his actions and thinking were all very much in line with what we knew of him, and i'm glad the story stuck to that even when it made him seem like an asshole. Also yeah he portrayed a rich stuckup med student rlly well, can say from experience 💀 just meant that i lowkey dgaf about night 9/10 times lol
very solid production value - the stars and fights and accidents were all very vibey
the acting!! - very solid performances from absolutely everyone involved <3 obviously huge huge shoutout to gun holy shit
The flashbacks and how they were incorporated worked rlly well!! loved how the eps started with that towards the beginning, and really helped pad the story out. Flashbacks in the final ep were especially effective, with showing us stuff we hadn't seen before
INSANE FINAL EP AHHHH - i don't cry at series often but but ep 12 when dream was talking on the phone with her parents got me 😭😭😭 and then the rest of the ep got me even more, i was a MESS. such a good final ep tho, had just enough tension and suspense and heart to keep you on your toes and just so so good. Also testament to last impressions, because before the final ep I would rate this show around an 8.2, but that ep truly boosted it up to a 8.8-9.
pond naravit <3 - never met a pond character that i'm not immediately obsessed with, day was just so so good 😭😭 bring him back PLSSSS
The Bad
This show reminded me why i don't watch het dramas 💀 - the way night treated dream throughout pretty much the whole thing annoyed me so much, ik it's very textbook straight couple in a thriller drama and a lot of it is definitely supposed to come across as romantic, but the way he kept brushing her off and infantilising her pls 😭😭 dream deserves better fr
similarly the treatment of ozone's autism - don't have anything profound to say that hasn't already been said, but you can tell exactly what genre of series this is
the pacing - the first eps and last eps were rlly good with the pacing, but i feel like it definitely dragged in the middle and i was watching on 2-3x speed a lot of the time. This could have easily been a 10 ep series.
Some plot holes/loose threads - honestly these don't bother me all that much and i'm not mad about the lack of explanation for why leap days happen and all that, but small things like why wiwat gets up early on his bday even to this day? (because didn't he only have to make sure the baby is born at the right times once and then the curse is transmitted?) did wiwat deliver night as well or was his birth at that time actually a coincidence? many more questions like this lol
overall, great mystery/thriller series that i enjoyed a lot !!!!! another pond character to the roster who i'll be thinking about forever
No like I need to rant a bit cuz I was not expecting to be crying like this at the end of this show. I think it tugged me emotionally too because of the bond between Day and Ozone. Like they only had each other. And yes granted they have Night and Dream now too but it's not the same man. I am heartbroken. And Day's finger moving at the end...what does it mean?!
