We may be sure that perfect chastity, as with perfect charity will not be attained by merely human efforts..you must ask for GOD’s help.

Even when you have done so it may seem to you for a long time that no help, or less help than you need is being given.

Never mind.

After each failure, ask forgiveness, & try again. [Avoid: In/Direct Temptation, Sinful example; promote godliness]

          Very often what GOD first helps us towards is           not the virtue itself, but just this power of           always trying again.

     For however important chastity, or courage, or      truthfulness, or (unselfishness) or any other      virtue may be...

II.] This process trains us in habits of the soul,      which are more important still.

          It cures our illusions of ourselves &           teaches us to depend on GOD.***

     1.] We learn on the one hand, that we cannot           trust ourselves even in our best moments,

     2.] On the other, that we need not despair           even in our worst--for our failures are forgiven

     The only faithful thing is to sit down content      with anything less than perfection.

Well, it’s been a couple days since our return from Phoenix. I thank God for His refreshment and goodness. God blessed in so many ways and it was truly a testimony of what life looks like when I choose to abide in Christ. Thankful Thursday {Week 10}

'I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed' (2 Timothy 1:12).

Going back to university and being able to live out the words, 'I am not ashamed' every single day

Reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan means God is re-exploding my heart with a fresh revelation of His radical, unconditional love.

Listening to the Threads sermon series by David Platt is further embedding my deep convictions of making disciples and proclaiming the good news of Jesus

Going back to uni has rekindled a love for on campus fellowship and evangelism.

Reading the Gospel of Mark is legitimately helping me get to know my Saviour more; what He actually did, the way He cared for people, how He showed His divinity and power, and ultimately how He suffered and died and rose again to bring us back to God.

SHOCKWAVE (international weekend of prayer for the persecuted church through Open Doors) just blew my mind, knowing the God heard the prayers of thousands of His children and is at work in the lives of those who are suffering the most for their faith.

studying prayer has been incredibly humbling, but also challenging me to begin every single day on my knees before my Father in Heaven.

thankful for seeing my beautiful sister Jay last weekend and praying, reading, eating and talking with her was such a blessing, as was meeting her friends and having epic in-depth midnight theology discussions. (:

thankful that God is Lord over my health, and I can always trust Him as He gaves, but also as He takes away: 'blessed be the name of the Lord' (Job 1:19).

thankful for the Lord Jesus, whose love will always be above and beyond anything I can fully comprehend.

Our Classroom

If we believe that God's will is perfect, then it follows that we should be students of his intentions and submissive to his desires.  This involves the acknowledgement of ignorance on our part and a letting go of something quite dear to our hearts -- the presumption that we know his will and his purpose.  We must ask him to teach us, but before any class begins, we must prepare ourselves to receive the lessons which he deems appropriate for us to know.  It is only in this way that we find great blessings, and take on life in accordance with the commands of God. 

"When I applied my mind to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done on earth...then I saw all the work of God, that no one can find out what is happening under the sun.  However much they may toil in seeking, they will not find out; even though those who are wise claim to know." --Ecclesiastes 8:16-17
