Day one of Inktober

Being someone who never had any close contact with fishes excluding a couple of few I swam with, the fish seller is the closest person I can remember to associated with the topic "Fish". The topical fish seller, the one who don't really mind to shout aloud "Meeneyyyyy pooooooy" ( my memories are in Malayalam of course) with the bike horn in background is unavoidable part of any society's mornings.

Not so friendly T-Rex

T-rexes were not in my attention somehow till a day before, here is one that happened to be the T-rex of my generic perception, he isn’t happy.

Nature Study

The plans varying from Banana tree to Mango tree and white orchid are observed to represent the leaves and the plant with group of leaves. The exercise also helped to generate ideas on how group of leaves may be perceived differently than the single one in shape and color.

Perspective Matters

Before if I have seen objects as just objects, today happily it's beyond that, trying to see details and now even to understand them in different perspectives. Here goes some of the better exploration results, they aren't perfect in any sort, but definitely there to denote what went wrong.

Obvious first attempts are on objects lying around the table all day or those which come across my attention everyday.

Products around

Products are better represented in isometric views which helps to represent its features and most appropriate angle and proportion when compared to viewing real object. Following is an attempt to draw isometric view of objects around to represent their functional elements and form. As the objects are designed out of basic shapes, the method chosen is to draw them with such shapes like cube and cylinder, which would also help me to observe things easily so that I will be able to break it into simple objects and represent.

Color Perception Experiments

Experimenting with rare light sources, these scenarios can be rare in everyday life.

When the maroon towel is photographed under the white LED light source, it appears almost similar color to what it looks in day light. The following photograph is under same settings, but the LED light source is green, as a result the towel appears as brown or closer to black.

A white medical tape is placed closer to a LED screen emitting white, yellow, red and blue respectively. The white part of the tape appears similar color to the light source where the blue branding on the tape is observed appearing in almost black color under the red light and to green under the yellow light in the photographs.

A very similar set up is repeated under the same LED screen, this time with the addition of a yellow ball. The ball appears in pure green under yellow light and a very darker shade of yellow under blue light.  

The drawing board clip is placed under sunlight and photographed with two different backgrounds. On the brown-orange surface the clip is appearing to be of a combination of dark violet and black. When the surface is white, the clip is seen in blue color.

The perception of color is in a way trickier, if strongly influenced by background or source of light or even due to interaction of colors.

Exploring Natural Shades

Even though there are different shades in nature, most prominently observed are of brown and green. Here is an attempt to observe the shades of two different type of leaves as they age, they are displaying gradual shades of their respective natural colors.

Fallen leaves from jackfruit tree of different days probably, observed are undergone natural aging which turns its color towards darker brown and gradually to black before it decompose.

Ixora Plant leaves, they are of different parts of the plant, starting from the top to bottom which is also in the order of newer leaves to older ones, displays variety of green. The pattern observed is a gradual shade of lemon green.
