Imara is such a free spirit, observant, independent, wise, and so creative. There is no telling her what to do. And. I love having her in my Thursday art studio! She decided that one of her two under-painting/over-painting projects was going to be about dolphins at sunset and the other would be “abstract” (whatever that means.) lol. Imara was one of our community Curator’s a couple of years ago, at age 6 or 7. Now, not only is she an art appreciator... she is also a budding headstrong artist (are there any artists who aren’t headstrong?) The dolphins are a work in progress. Imara’s abstract is complete. One of my younger art students, Jaylin, with her abstract paintings in today’s studio. All 20 of my students this week are learning about how to paint in layers, letting the first few layers peek through the final over-painting. Jaylin is a dancer at powwows as well as a talented budding artist. I love how her personality, culture and interests show up in most of her art projects!
