Mastery Journal - Multimedia Development and Editing
This month my class at Full Sail was Multimedia Development and Editing. I had mixed feelings going into this class because I love editing but I didn’t know what type of editing I would be doing for the class, hence multimedia.
From day one in the class, we went over photo composition and how to tell a great story using photos. Learning this was a great opportunity for me to touch up on my love of photography because I freelance photos when I am not at work so I knew I would love this class.
As the class continued, I began to learn about how to create interviews using just audio and relying on sound to get the listener involved. This was a little challenging because I had to come up with sounds that would engage the audience and give a complete story while using the sound to help the narrative. The last audio story I had to do was a story just using pictures. I thought it was going to be hard because I could only use pictures. It was easy and I was wrong. I went to the 2nd Chance Domestic Violence Walk. I was able to take as many pictures as needed to get the story across while using the voice of the director of 2nd Chance to talk about domestic violence.
Walking away from this class I learned a lot that will help me in the future, one being the use of pictures as a way to tell stories. I may have to use that more often now that I know how easy it is. This class has prepared me in more ways that I thought was possible. One, it gave me a whole new way of editing than what I gave myself credit for, secondly I now have more confidence to go out and get a story without being afraid of being turned away.
I can’t wait to start the next journey of classes at Full Sail.
