Every willow in the area was broken or tore up. We knew more than one bull was using this area to rut hard. We slipped into an old oxbow that was extremely flooded with the rain and set up wind just right. One low grunt had this guy on fire he came in slow grunting and raking every willow on his path. Cover was thick and shooting was going to be tight. Watching him bust willows at 15 yards full draw felt like an eternity! He came out of the willows straight on to me. I held On hoping for the turn. At 8 yards he turned slight quartered and he got hit good double lung. Another shot at 18 through a tiny hole on the willows crushing him again. We were tagged out! Unfortunately he fell in the deep water, which made butchering fun and it’s started raining again. Ha.
