Friend of mine asked me if I could make them a waist belt bag for their shaman/druid type outfit. So I said I’d give it a go and they commissioned me to make it for them. They also had a request to have a wolf head on it if possible. While keeping to the normal draw-string pouch design I decided to alter the way the pouch flap closes. Most pouch flaps either have a cord not on the flap and a loop of cord on the bag to loop over and hold it shut or by having a button/snap on the flap to connect it to the bag. I didn’t want to do either of those options since that’s where the wolf head engraving/tooling would be at so instead I opted to do it a different way and to keep it aesthetically pleasing and more akin to the outfit it’s going for. decided to do a reverse plug option as well as use the tip of a deer antler as the plug The bag part I made out of suede leather and the flap/front latch part is made out of some 6oz vegetable tan leather. The wolf head was tooled on and all the leather dyed with acorn brown dye to give it the authentic leather look. I used a tan/beige colored wax thread and hand stitched the entire piece together. I like the way it turned out overall, was a bit worried I’d mess up on the measurements/alignment but it came out pretty good and my friend loves the design of it.
