Leaving It All Behind.

More than a couple of months ago I met a guy who is super chill, down to earth and a just a lovely person, so naturally we became friends. 

He told me a story that I could easily resonate with. His plan was to sell and get rid of just about everything that he owned as he was moving to another state. Actually he was moving to Perth, which is my city of course. (Perth represent!!)

Now, since I’ve done pretty much the same thing myself I was excited for him but was very curious on how he felt leaving his established life in Melbourne behind, along with multiple instruments, friends and comfort. I also felt inspired to ask if he wanted help selling some of his clothes online, in which he jumped at, and in exchange (rather than commission) he would answer some questions for me about leaving his life in Melbourne to move to another state with just one bag.

He agreed and here’s a few questions and answers below;

Name -  Renan. Age - 32. Where He’s from - Brazil.  The time spent in Melbourne - 7 years. The hardest thing to leave behind - His comfort and the consistency he had in his life here. What helped him being able to get rid of all his stuff - His possessions didn’t matter to him because he was so focused on the next step and where he was going. What about his sentimental possessions including one of the soccer jerseys his grandmother gave him - her love isn’t a shirt, he still has her love with him.

Before he left we had a catch up where Renan told me he wanted to donate all the profit of the clothes I’m selling for him to one of he’s favourite charities, The Lost Dogs Home in North Melbourne which I’m happy to say that so far we have raised $68.48.

So without further ado, I am officially announcing my new path on this crazy, wild life of mine! I have been so blessed throughout my life with a strong mind, an environment full of love and support and now a job that not only builds and develops me but opens the doors to opportunities I could've never dreamed of. And then I just couldn’t help but wonder what makes your eyesight so much different from theirs.

How could the one person I spent time with the most not see what so many others have?
