Today I witness one of the great moments of public transport where an old fat man had a choice of seats, but decided to sit next to the only young female on the bus who was sitting right behind me. Not only did he invade her space with his size and numerous bags for life, but as he was sitting down he said "I always like sitting next to a pretty girl" whilst trapping her between the window and him. I was in shock over what I just heard and so full of anger and sympathy for the girl behind me. I wanted to instantly turn around and ask her if she'd like him to move, but I sadly didn't have the courage, which I'm slightly hating my past self for not having. I kind of hoped that was it, but he decided that it was ok to try to force her into some mundane conversation over bus routes. I knew from the tone of her voice she was in no mood to deal with this shit and a few stops later it was either her stop or she decided to get off and walk the rest of her journey. He pretty much made her squeeze passed him as he barely made an effort to move. With her hast to get off the bus it almost felt like she needed to just get out of that situation. Part of me thought this guy doesn't know her, for all he knew she could be someone that for a good reason really doesn't want or like men (or people) being that close to her and being socially forced into having an awkward conversation, which obviously he'd be blissfully unaware as he's fulfilling his lechy desires without regard for how it may make someone else feel. This isn't the first time I've seen this happen and I doubt it'll be the last. I don't understand why men feel like it's completely acceptable to do stuff like this. When I'm getting on the bus my choice of seat isn't dictated by whether or not someone attractive is on the bus and I'd never dare speak to a stranger, given if I did have that ability I may have spoken up
