Little life update/vent not for reblog, under the cut.
So I’m taking work off this month. Either I’ll get my job’s insurance provider to approve a Leave that is attached to my dad’s recovery from heart surgery (a partially paid family leave thing--because I live with my parents and refuse to be a vector to vulnerable seniors for virus infection, AND I do essential things for them like grocery runs) OR I will drain my supply of vacation hours to cover as many work days in the month of December as possible. It’s the busiest month of our year and causing the city to muddle up my commuting with irresponsible tourists (stay! home!). I will be in suspense about approval or not until at least Tuesday after I can get to my dad’s doctor to fill out his part of my paperwork on Monday. ::PLEASE CROSS ALL YOUR FINGERS FOR ME FOR THEIR APPROVAL::: I am so damn grateful my management is working with me on this. I think it’s bananas the city hasn’t moved faster to shut down more non-essential business as yet and the same anxiety I had in March is setting in. I’m also a little sad because I like being at my job, with my coworkers (getting to meet Tim*thee Ch*lamet randomly in the line of duty!) I also think the building is actually a physically safe space--at least compared to indoor dining/gyms/theaters/etc. BUT it’s also a place that encourages thousands of people to leave their homes for a non essential reason. The cognitive dissonance of those two facts has been really mentally draining. So has the anxiety of a public transit commute. :-/ So. Just wanted to type that so it’s out of my head.
Today: Cons--After 12 years of not seeing a dentist*, I have 3 cavities and need my first root canal Pros-- My new dentist is really nice I met Paul Feig just strolling on 5th Avenue! (*I KNOW, OKAY, I KNOW...but some of us only recently achieved Dental Insurance!!)
Me: Thinking my headaches have been exacerbated by eye strain while working exclusively on my ipad for my most recent art project*
My doctor: In full agreement but also praises how “GOOD! SO TALENTED!” aforementioned artwork turned out when I show her
So mixed messages here with Lauren’s medical team.
*I intend to switch back to pencil and paper with only coloring digitally after I post this set of things I’ve been working on this month, it’s just taking a while!
FINALLY GOING TO HADESTOWN
If you see me with a dopey look on my face it’s because I got to talk to both Alan Tudyk and Paul Reubens today and they’re some funny geek gods 😭🥰
I think the best part of NYCC planning is the drinking and emailing on a Tuesday night knowing full well the things you’re scheduling back to back to back are going to stretch you VERY THIN and require A LOT of hustling from place to place 🙃🙃
Seeing JoJo Rabbit on Thursday fuck yeaaaaaa
