Virgil's current number one rule? NO ONE touches Violet. "Who is Violet?" you might ask? Well, after Thomas's video promoting the Sanders Sides plushies, Patton noticed that Virgil seemed almost mad at him or something during that video, so he wanted to try fix it by showing how much he cares about him in a special way: making him a stuffed animal. Patton can get attached pretty quickly, so the fact he spent days making a toy and gave it to Virgil is pretty big. It was a stuffed toy cat with a purple body and head, black arms, legs and ears, green button eyes, the same plaid material from Virgil's hoodie for the tail, paw patches and inside the ears, and white stitching on the neck, joints and patches. He left her outside Virgil's door with a blue note that read "I'm sorry if I made you angry, I didn't mean to. Love you, kiddo. XOXO" in glittery silver writing. When Virgil saw it, he hugged the carefully crafted kitty and cried. An hour later, Patton opened his own door to find Virgil standing there, eyes bloodshot, eyeshadow dripping and clutching the cat. The two hugged tightly and all was well with the father-son duo. As for why no one touches her? Well, here's the story that explains why.
A month later, and Virgil loved his new companion he named Violet and kept her by his bed every night. He didn't dare tell the others about her because he figured Roman would tease him and Logan...well, he just didn't want to tell him. Anyway, this morning was like any other. He was the last Side to wake up, he lazily made his bed and tucked in Violet as if she was taking a nap then headed downstairs for breakfast. After finishing the first meal of the day, he decided to watch a movie in the living room. What Virgil didn't know was that this morning, he forgot to close his door. That's why when Roman walked past, he noticed Violet in the bed. He decided to get a closer look and went inside. He picked up the toy and examined it. He had to admit, it was kinda cute. Just one problem: the seams that kept the tail attached to the body were falling apart. He decided to take it to his room and fix it for Virgil. After all, who doesn't enjoy a nice surprise? Well, the human embodiment of anxiety, that's who. After finishing Hocus Pocus 2, Virgil went back to his room and noticed something wrong. Where's Violet? He checked under the covers, under the pillows and under the bed. No sign of her. He checked every drawer and even the closet. No Violet. She was gone. Virgil groaned loudly before summoning himself to Thomas, who was watching TV.
"Oh, hey Virgil. Wanna watch?" Thomas asked. "Get the others here, right now!" Virgil demanded, his voice loud and echoing. "Ok, ok! Logan‽ Patton‽ Roman‽" Thomas called out, worried by Virgil's anger. The others popped up, surprisingly still in their pyjamas, and immediately noticed Virgil's furious demeanour. "Not funny, guys. Which one of you took Violet?" Virgil asked. "Who is Violet?" Logan asked. Virgil realised his mistake. He should've just asked Patton to help him search for Violet, now he has to tell the others about her when only one of them took her and the others didn't need to know. Embarrassment be damned, someone stole his property and he was getting it back! Virgil whipped out his phone and showed a photo of her. "This is Violet, my cat. Patton made her for me, she was in my bed when I left for breakfast this morning and now she's gone. I already checked every part of my room, someone took her." Virgil explained. Roman's acting skills were god-like right now because he was portraying confusion then understanding so realistically when on the inside, he was panicking like crazy. If Virgil found out, he's doomed. "Well, I think it's pretty obvious who took her." Roman remarked, looking at Logan. "I wasn't even aware of this toy cat's existence until now, how could I have possibly taken it? And why would I?" Logan queried. "You're the one who wanted Thomas to throw out Benjamin." Roman pointed out. "For the final time, I did not say that! And furthermore, why would I have taken it now that I have a better understanding of the benefits?" Logan argued.
"Ok, so that's a "maybe" for Logan. Patton wouldn't do it because he made Violet for me, Thomas couldn't have taken her because he can't access the Mind Palace without our help, so that leaves Roman." Virgil reasoned. "Virgil, I'm a heroic prince, not a common petty thief. Stealing goes against everything my honour stands for, I would never deceive you that way. Speaking of, perhaps it was Janus or Remus." Roman suggested. "If they did it, they would've left a ransom note. Trust me, I know them." Virgil contradicted. The room remained quiet as everyone looked deep in thought before Virgil sighed in frustration. "Look. One of you is lying and eventually, I'm gonna figure it out, so just come clean." he demanded. No one confessed and Virgil left in a huff. Everyone turned to Roman with a judgemental stare. "Why are you all looking at me?!" he asked. "It was obviously you, Roman. You need to give that toy back, Virgil's clearly very upset." Logan scolded. Roman groaned, summoning Violet from his room. "Awww, Patton, you made that?" Thomas asked. "Uh-huh. Made her specially for Virgil. But Roman, why did you take her?" Patton questioned. "Her tail was falling off, so I was going to fix it for him. It was supposed to be a surprise." Roman explained. "You wanted to surprise...my anxiety? You see the problem there, right?" Thomas asked. "It would've been fine if he hadn't gone back to his room so soon. Just give me some time to fix it and I'll give it back." Roman answered. "Ok, Roman. But you might wanna hurry." Patton replied. Roman and Patton went back to the Mind Palace and Logan sighed. After apologizing to Thomas for him having to deal with "ridiculous drama", he invited Logan to watch a movie with him.
Meanwhile, Patton had risen up into his room and decided to get a snack from the kitchen. As he walked down the halls, he swore he heard crying from behind Virgil's closed door. He opened the door and saw Virgil sobbing into a pillow. "Aww, Virgil." Patton whimpered. Virgil looked up and saw Patton with his arms stretched out for a hug. Virgil rushed into his arms and continued to cry. "I'm sorry." he whispered. "Don't be sorry, silly. It's ok to cry." Patton reassured, stroking his hair. "I just want her back, and I don't know where she is." Virgil mumbled. Patton couldn't take it anymore. "Roman has Violet. He noticed her tail was falling off, so he's fixing her right now." Patton confessed. Virgil let go and sniffled. "Why didn't he ask me first?" Virgil questioned. "He wanted to surprise you. He didn't think you would be this upset." Patton explained. Virgil wiped the tears from his eyes and sighed. "Thanks for telling me, Pat. I think I'm good now." Virgil said. "Glad you're okay. I'll see you later, kiddo." Patton said as he left for the kitchen. Virgil looked in the mirror by his closet and decided to fix up his eyeshadow. As he carefully applied his favourite makeup, he started planning how to get back at Roman for 1.Going into his room without permission and 2.Stealing Violet and lying.
Roman sat back and admired his work as he finally finished fixing Violet's tail. He really was a creative genius. Just as he was about to take Violet back to Virgil, there was angry knocking at his door. In a panic, he threw Violet into his closet before opening his door to a furious Virgil. "Give her back, Roman." Virgil demanded. "What makes you think I have her?" Roman asked. "Patton told me. I can fix her myself, now give me Violet. Now." Virgil said angrily. Roman was legitimately terrified right now but his pride got in the way of common sense. "Or what?" Roman bluffed. "You had your chance." Virgil warned, tackling Roman to the floor. The two wrestled for a bit before Virgil finally overpowered Roman. He was now straddling his waist and even managed to grab Roman's replica of Heather Chandler's scrunchie that he was wearing like a bracelet for some reason today to tie his wrists together. "Virgil, get off me!" Roman yelled. "Nah, don't feel like it." Virgil said. "What exactly is your plan here, Finding Emo?" Roman asked. "A certain prince needs to be taught some manners, like no taking people's things without permission and no going into someone else's room when they're not there." Virgil teased before squeezing Roman's sides, causing him to let out a surprised squeal before melting into a puddle of giggles. "Hahahahaha! Vihihirgil, no fahahahair!" Roman giggled. "Neither was what you did, Your Royal Ticklishness." Virgil taunted, moving up to Roman's ribs.
Roman bucked and wiggled as much as he could but Virgil was determined to punish him and teach him a lesson. "Just tell me where she is and this all stops, Prince Giggles." Virgil said. Roman knew he had no reason to keep hiding Violet, she was all fixed up now anyway. But something in his brain kept telling him to fight back and not to succumb to Virgil's wishes or he'll look weak. "Nehehehever! I'm nohohohot tehelling yohohohou! Hahahahahaha!" Roman laughed. "Very well then. I gave you a chance at mercy, but you brought this on yourself, Sir Laughs-A-Lot." Virgil teased, moving on to his quivering tummy. Poor Roman couldn't get his arms down properly to protect himself. With his wrists tied together behind his head, they just kept falling behind his neck whenever he tried lowering his arms. "Hehehehehey! Gehet yohour hahhaands awahahay frohohom thehehere!" Roman chuckled, squirming as much as possible. "Ok, I'll get my hands away from there." Virgil said, stopping. Roman didn't like the way Virgil emphasised "hands". His fears were confirmed when he felt his shirt being lifted and Virgil blew the longest raspberry he could possibly muster on his sensitive belly. "AHAHAHAHAHA! NOHOHOHOHO! VIRGHIHIIL!" Roman screamed. "Yes, Your Royal Loudness?" Virgil asked, going for Roman's number one tickle spot: his armpits. Roman internally cursed himself for not changing out of his pyjamas and walking around in a tank top.
"AHAHAHAHAHAHA! OKHAY, OKAHAHAY, SHE'S IHIHIN THE CLOHOHOHOHOSET!" Roman bellowed. Virgil immediately stopped, ran to the closet and opened it. He grabbed Violet and hugged her tightly. After a few minutes, Roman caught his breath and struggled to get the scrunchie off his wrists. "When you're done with your little reunion, little help here?!" Roman whined. Virgil rolled his eyes and reluctantly freed Roman's wrists. "Never take my stuff again." Virgil scolded. "Noted. And sorry for not asking first. I should've checked if it was ok with you." Roman apologized. "Whatever. Apology accepted, I guess." Virgil said, leaving the room with Violet in his arms. "Who did you say ratted me out?" Roman asked, following him into the hallway. "Patton. But it's not his fault, he can't stand seeing someone cry." Virgil confessed. "You were crying?" Roman queried, feeling more guilty than before. "Shut up!" Virgil yelled, slamming his own door behind him. As he flopped down onto the bed, contemplating taking a nap, he looked at Violet and smiled. He'd never admit it out loud, but Roman did do a good job fixing the tail. As he snuggled up to his kitty, he could hear Patton down the hall, squealing and cackling. No doubt, Roman was teaching him to keep your friend's secrets. He peacefully fell asleep, listening to the sound of Patton's distant giggles.
