Sorry for the random question, but I've been wondering about this lately and you seem like a good account to ask. Do you think, or do you know, if Ed had a trial after first being convicted in the woods? I know it's standard procedure, but they had hard evidence against him, and the sequence of events in 2x17 make it seem like, after he was apprehended, he was immediately deemed insane and sent to Arkham, and then that's when Jim went home and dealt with Barbara.
I love questions like this, please feel free to send in as many as you like. Discussing the show is one of my favourite things to do.
Personally, I do feel like Ed had a trial. As you stated, it is standard procedure. I doubt Jim would deem it just if Ed was sent to Arkham without one, even after all he’s done. The law is the law.
It’s not uncommon for Gotham to skip over scenes such as these, they only have 40 minutes to play with after all. Look back to 2x15 where Jim was incarcerated, we didn’t directly see the trial but we did see a snippet of Jim leaving the court house with a reporter stating that there have been weeks of proceedings which resulted in Jim being sentenced to Blackgate.
It stands to reason that Ed also went through something similar, the only questions that remain are: did they send him to Arkham first and conduct the trial later once things have settled down, or did they follow standard procedures?
In season 3, Isabella mentioned researching Ed. “Edward, I know what you did […] I spent the afternoon reading every article about you.” This, in turn, goes to show that Ed’s crimes reached the papers and I have little doubt that news of his incarceration did too. The people would want to know what justice was served.
I wish we saw his trial or had some inkling of what went down. I can’t see Ed wanting to take the insanity plea like Oswald did because of how he reacted to being called a psychopath etc. He doesn’t believe himself insane.
Someone's trying to harass you in your inbox? Wtf you're one of the best members of this fandom who would want to bother you
It’s alright, I can deal with it. I may wake up to several new anons in my inbox every morning but I’m committed to not letting it get to me. I’ll continue to do what I always do which is write, draw, and reblog gifsets. I’m on tumblr to have fun, not engage in anything that will cause me stress
I'm still softly sniffling about that audio, Edddiiiiiieeeeee......
“I don’t understand […] I—I might actually be crazy.”
I hope you know that you and Codot are the reason for my current heartbreak. I mean thank you for that but ouch. Poor Eddie 3
This may be a strange question, but how do you feel about asexuals? In my eyes, Oswald is kinda asexual (just not interested in sex at all), and I wanted to see what you thought? I know he's not, but that's how I like to see him as :)
In light of everything happening, I don’t see this as a strange question at all. People seek information and confirmation to accusations and what not.
Let’s get one thing straight, I don’t hate asexuals, dislike them, discount them or anything of the sort. I full on support who they are and their decisions. Far be it from me to discount another’s orientation, it would be hypocritical. People are who they are. The journey to self-discovery is not always an easy one, I myself have struggled with that (only recently discovering I am a lesbian), and if they have figured it out, or are stuck questioning, I will pat them on the back and smile. This is how I feel about every orientation.
As for Oswald, we all have our own personal interpretations on who he is. I myself, don’t see him as asexual. I am not here to disagree with your or any other persons headcanons etc., this is purely my own viewpoint. It might not match what others think and nor should it really. Conformity to one idea often dissuades creativity. People should come at it with their own mindset after all media is open to interpretation.
But yes, to me Oswald is a gay man. Although we may not see him going around kissing other characters or trying to seduce them doesn’t mean he doesn’t have sexual interests and a desire for physical intimacy. There are straight characters on television that may never kiss or have sex throughout the course of a show but that doesn’t mean they aren’t straight. I like to believe that Oswald has an interest in it, but it is not in his top few. He would much rather work on gathering intel and solidifying his power base than engaging in distraction.
Oswald can be very single minded. It’s only after he reaches the top can he relax a little, before that, making his way there is his only goal.
Anyway… fingers crossed this doesn’t start arguments. I feel the need to repeat that these are my views and I don’t expect anyone or everyone to agree with them. If you see Oswald as asexual I have no qualms. We all love the character and that’s what’s most important!
Hey, saw you post about Ed being a trophy husband and I just wanted to ask, How dare you????
Would you rather Ed be called: popsicle #2 or dick in a box?
Vote below ;)
Okay, where did you hear about a "same sex couple kiss" for tonight? I need source material, please.
Right here!
Granted there is a error in the article but it’s a funny one. Apparently there is a secret group of shippers hidden in the fandom. Guys… come say hi! :P
When you actively *dread* the season finale of your show. I just... it's that. I am dreading it. I have had a sinking feeling with every episode since 3x11 but for three seasons I've celebrated Gotham Day with happiness and today... I just can't muster any enthusiasm or excitement, and what's more I am actively not looking forward to it. I am happy for the people that can be positive for season 4. I just don't have it in me.
Anon, I know exactly what you are feeling. Honestly I want to hug all of you that have been hurt by this show and its current storyline.
Gotham was my happy place for a long time. I made so many new friends because of it and I’m thankful for all of them, but the narrative sucks right now. There are good elements. Ed’s monologuing in the upcoming finale is very on point for him. It’s what I like to call a “Queen Ed” moment and I am excited for everything Fish Mooney but everything else is throwing me off especially because we know we are going to be left with so many unanswered questions.
A finale is supposed to wrap up the current story and pave the way for a new one to begin in the wake of something momentous. The only thing momentous here is how much Gotham screwed up. I get so bitter past 1am, don’t mind me.
I have to say that I have never looked forward to a finale more, not because I am super excited but because I want this over with. I kinda need the break. There are people that can be positive and like you, I am happy for them but there are problems I sometimes cannot ignore. There are issues I keep to myself and only share with a few people because I know a lot of people here are thrilled and excited, although the excitement does appear to be waning lately.
I will continue watching and supporting the show. I hope Gotham realises the mistakes it has made and tries to correct them in season 4. I want to squeal in joy again, not groan in frustration. If Gotham manages to bring Jonathan back, then my hype level will sky rocket but until then I am going to live in the land of fics for at least there, I can create stories I wish to see.
