ID: 3 photos of a leech wrapped around an index finger from different angles. First is as it began feeding, the second shows it half full, and the last shows it laying on a palm after feeding, with a drop of blood near its head.
VD: the same leech pulsating as it feeds. End VD
Recently started keeping some Erpobdella leeches I found in ponds. These are similar to familiar parasitic leeches but don’t drink blood, and instead are predator-scavengers that feed on smaller worms, insect larvae, carrion etc.- basically anything small enough to swallow or soft enough to slurp up.
They’re almost constantly roving around and rooting in the sand in search of food, and don’t seem to be very picky. In this video they’re eating the innards of dead mealworms but they’ve also readily devoured small earthworms and pieces of fish.
exploring the new home - tank is a wip i need more smaller gravel and a real mossball..dont judge my decorating skills i will cry

Are there any leech people on here that know if you can theoretically take wild leeches and stop them from spreading disease by keeping them in a safe environment and feeding them safe foods?
I really want leeches and i got some in my old inflatable pool so i figured i could keep them as pets and let them feed from me
I am a leech. I bite you.
I think you might have got the wrong knight, but I am quite happy to let you feed as well.
