홍천9경의 하나인 가령폭포를 찍은 영상이다. 주변의 울창한 숲을 지나면, 생경하면서도 낯선 풍경이 펼쳐진다. 약 43m의 기암절벽에서 우렁찬 굉음이 다가온다. 관광 명소로 브랜드화되었지만, 교통이 불편한 만큼 사람이 항시 붐비는 곳은 아니며, 이름에 포함된 영적인 기운이 느껴지는 것도 같다. 폭포의 소리와 거센 물을 보는 것은 명상의 감각을 준다.
Garyeong Falls, shown in this video, is one of the “Nine Views” (scenic spots) of Hongcheon. Passing through the surrounding dense forest, a raw, unfamiliar landscape unfolds and loud roars can be heard from the oddly shaped cliff, about 43 meters high. Although branded as a tourist attraction, Garyeong Falls is inconvenient to reach and does not tend to be crowded. But the spiritual energy suggested by its name (“-ryeong” is Sino-Korean for “ghost”) appears tangible when on-site and the sound and visual spectacle of the waterfall offer a sense of meditation.
