Scrap Along 2026

If the past year has shown us nothing else, it's the imperative of community, purpose, focus, and resources. Scrap Along 2026 can contribute to all of those.

The event begins on Valentines Day and ends on the Ides of March (15 March). Start earlier or finish later, but make something with leftover yarn. You don’t have enough scraps for an entire project? Include what you do have!

Whatever your craft — knitting, crochet, weaving, tatting, macrame, needlepoint, felting, nalbinding, embroidery, latchhook, etc. — piece together leftover yarn into something gorgeous, one of a kind, memorable. Like you.

All of the 2SLGBTQIA+ letters, the colors, the genders, the love, the ages. All of the yarn.

Finally yesterday evening I’ve started to write the next newsletter. The last one was sent out at the end of September and I will be ready to send this one in two-three days I think. I also want to use all of these leftovers to make two or three pair of special socks. This will be one of the projects I want to make during the evenings when I don’t need to work. ••• Ieri sera ho finalmente iniziato a scrivere la prossima newsletter. Scrap Along 2026

Hello! Scrap Along 2026 begins today, February 14, and runs 30 days through the Ides of March (March 15). Just make something from leftover yarn and post it on social media with the tag #ScrapAlong2026

Making things from leftover yarn helps to:

After a year of federal murder, assault, and cruelty, craftivism is more important than ever. If you use yarn to crochet, embroider, felt, knit, latch hook, macrame, nalbind, needlepoint, tat, weave, or any other yarn craft I left out, you can scrap along.

Musselburgh Hat

Playing around with both ends of my scrappy Musselburgh hat before I shorten it to a wearable length. Pulled all the way down, I appear to have been detained by the Stockinette Chapter of The Knitting Craftivists (interesting image). I almost like the massively wide brim but it hides the Trans Pride stripes, and I want to be a visible ally. The bag cap has a kind of Renaissance or liberty cap look, but it's not exactly a 21st century look. Onward!

Scrap Along 2026

It's an inside day today, but an opportunity to capture this combination of leftover yarn, helical knitting, and colorway pooling in a swirling ribbed cap for Scrap Along 2026.

Beach break. I finished this ribbed cap of leftover yarn a day before the "official" start of Scrap Along 2026. This one is sentimental…

I used the very last yards of a ball of soft green Zitron Trekking XXL 285, a gift from my mother when she taught me her method of knitting socks. Sixteen years ago.
