It’s just an average day.
Or, rather, is what has been forced to become “average”-- a far cry from the life she had once lived that now seemed so long ago as her stay within the city stretches onward. Though it seemed to be an impossible feat in the beginning and the adjustment had been difficult, she had finally fallen into a schedule of sorts, finding multiple activities and ways to preoccupy her time so that she would have less of it to spend thinking. About her home. About her career. About her fellow VOCALOIDs. About Len.
The android had grown rather talented at suppressing her emotions when it came to her twin and although the occasional breakdowns were inevitable, they had started occurring less and less which came as nothing short of a relief. And although always the more selfish of the two, even Rin couldn’t deny that it was best he remain safe at home and far from this place and all the dangers that undoubtedly lurked within it.
Her thoughts are interrupted when she takes notice of the crowd before her, excited that she managed to pick the perfect day to attempt another one of her street performances in hopes of seeking out some extra cash. Although random, whenever the eclipse appears it is common knowledge that many new people are going to be approaching therefore making it an excellent time to try and garner some attention and potential business.
She’s just about to get started when a flash of yellow catches her eye, gaze instantly drawn to the blonde ponytail that seems to stick out from within the crowd. The thought that it looks a lot like Len’s is the first to cross her mind and she can only scoff in response, immediately annoyed with herself. Her mind has played this cruel joke on her many times before-- moments where she swears that she has seen him pass her by in the sea of faces and strangers that occupy the city only to be crushed by the disappointment that follows when she is wrong. Because she is always wrong and it is never actually him. And Rin is determined to not allow herself to fall for it again.
The android has already spun around on her heel, back now facing the crowd as she takes a step forward, all too eager to leave behind what is no doubt just some stranger with a similar hairstyle to her brother when she hears a voice stutter out an apology for bumping into somebody. She can pluck it right out from the crowd because it isn’t just any voice. She’d be able to recognize it anywhere-- one modeled so similar to that of her own. Fear grips her like a vice, paralyzes her as she contemplates whether it’s worth turning around again or not but it sounded so real this time that she can’t help but ignore all logic and obey her heart, slowly spinning and gaping when she catches a glimpse of his face.
“Len?” There’s no way for him to hear her from so far away, especially because the name comes out as a strangled whisper but before she can even realize what is happening the blonde is already sprinting ahead, clumsily and carelessly shoving people out of her way and ignoring their grunts and agitated protests as she calls out far louder this time, “Len!!”
He isn’t given much time to react before she is flinging herself into his arms and enveloping him in a bone-crushing hug to ensure that he is really and truly here this time around and not just a figment of her imagination.
