Tatsumaki had been resting on a branch, higher up than Genos could likely reach. Rather than come into town and resting at taverns or inns, Tatsumaki had found herself content to camp out in the forests of Airaisal. Strange, she noted, as she had never been one for such activity. Yet, the forests left her quite comfortable…
… and, being bothered within them did not.
Other people could be so rude, and she had no tolerance for such behavior. No matter who or where it came from, Tatsumaki would not allow it in her presence. That is to say, she wouldn’t allow it in the forests’ presence, either.
So now, when a familiar hero approaches her, she regards him with a wary eye from her perch.
“I’m merely protecting this area. Those people should be thanking me.”
“Intruders can use forests to cause a lot of trouble if they’re smart enough. I’m just getting rid of those nuisances when I see them.”
That, and anyone else that might get in the way, too. Her powers hardly discriminated.
he looks up at the hero, expression as deadpanned as he can make it. what the other considered protecting is different from genos. not one to care about buildings or furniture that gets in his way of defeating an enemy, he does care about the people whom he’s meant to be helping. but, experience with the esper shows that she does not care as much about the people, especially fellow heroes – it’s on their own to get away from the damage.
“scaring and nearly hurting the civilians is hardly protecting them, is it?” he retorts, “why would they thank you after they had to run away from your ‘protection’?”
but she does make a good point about the forest that surrounded the kingdom they now fight for. the forest is the first entry point and, unsurprisingly in a state of war, there are people constantly entering.
“i take it this means you’re also working for this kingdom as a soldier.” he stares into the distance to the buildings of the kingdom where his allegiance lay. although he did not hesitate to follow orders, he does have a question.
“have you figured out why we’re fighting, tatsumaki?” genos asks, glancing up at the hero, wondering if she has discovered anything. “have you discovered why we’re even like this?”
