Y’all know how much I hate the saying, “I am my ancestors wildest dreams.” 🥴 I get it but for me myself personally I just don’t believe that. I believe my ancestors thought me really free. Even higher than this! If I can imagine getting off the ground and flying I know Emma Jane Baxley and her mother and her mother and... - and Bernice Moore and her mother and her mother and... had a deep capacity to think me into a whole, free, satisfied version of myself. So WILDEST imagination or dreams feels like the destination but we still on the road towards that higher calling! And even higher. And we gonna get there but I wouldn’t be arrogant enough to presume that my ancestors never dreamed of a higher freedom than this! All those words to say, I’m thrilled to be talking to @lauren.rosa.miller today about the fact that I AM my ancestors. Literally! I am going to be talking about being #EmmasLegacy (my nonProfit that centers Black women existing as our highest, most sacred selves without the weight of saving the world on our shoulders) and about dreaming as resistance for black women - but also, I am going to be in conversation with someone who IS #LEGACY! So I’m thrilled to be in relationship with and in conversation with her brilliance! Tune in today at 11am EST on Lauren’s IG @lauren.rosa.miller ! #TheFreePeopleProject #CantStayPut #LegacyTalks #InTheRoomWithLegacy #DreamYourselfFree #BlackGirlMixtape (at New Orleans, Louisiana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDBoz8DpWDu/?igshid=18rkky8r0vu9n
