I would understand more if the criticisms were like “okay ALSO put it on twitter” but the use of insta stories itself is not an issue at all IMO

i feel like music has just become so commercialised and is always sold on the basis that it contains scandal and drama, with the result that we’re always looking for an Ulterior Motive in harry’s songs, which is just so sad because harry has just created something amazing. harry has created a piece of art that he has literally put his heart, soul and a good few brain cells into and i just think we should honor the herculean effort he’s put into this album by not dissecting the lyrics. yes music is about storytelling, but not all of his stories are reality ya feel? once you start trying to link songs and what they say about the artist’s reality, you’re missing out on HOW they tell that story, which is half the magic of music. Roland Barthes (literary theorist, semiotician and all-round Cool Dude) said that literature is "where all identity is lost, beginning with the very identity of the body that writes". i like to think this applies to music just as it does to literature because at the end of the day, they’re both wonderful, beautiful crafts for storytelling. allow harry to escape from the limelight of the “Author-God” for once and just appreciate the stories, the way they’re told, and the fact that harry is fulfilling the amazing potential we always knew he had. end of rant <3
