She hadn’t expected to be fighting monsters here. She had done a lot of that over the years. She had hoped for a moment of peace but memories and pain plagued her even without actual fighting. The way her hair was up, her pointed ears were on show. She had crafted a weapon out of the leg of a table. She leapt in the air with elegance and sliced the monster in half. She heard someone approaching and swung round, pointing her weapon at them. “Best not to sneak up on people.” She was a calm woman, even in battle.
